Needs to happen at the showdown...

I've always hated that snivelling, snide, sneaky fool Olsen. Now more than ever.

Olsen sold of the electricity then the water and now wants to sell off the SANFL too.

"SANFL clubs have first right to top up players at League level"

This gives me the impression they will be selceted at the start of the season by the Crows and your club may not see them all year unless you want to select him in your league side. To me this will mean the Crows are going to have top up players who are on the verge of league selction and coupling this with their AFL players would nake them quite strong IMO
At the same time it is gifting these guys league matches before they have earnt them

Never felt so disgusted with this whole proposal.

just a few more points:
- What's to stop SAAFL and country teams taking stars with a reduced cap?
- youngsters won't want to play for a SANFL club, they'll want to be a "top up" for exposure
- will not rest players? HA! what about their bye? can they load up with out of form players?
- how much cash?
- 15 years to review? how about yearly or bi-yearly review? AFL will come up with something soon you'd think.

This is completely shameful of such a proud SA league.

I'm not surprised.

I'll be stunned if Sturt don't vote in favour of this proposal, even though voting for it will increase the chances of the club folding.

I have zero confidence in the board.

If it goes through, it will be interesting to see membership figures next year.

rod_rooster wrote:With the proposal that the salary cap gets reduced "as acknowledgement of reduction in minor round matches" then surely the same percentage reduction would be given to membership costs at each club for the same reason? Of course it won't but if the clubs accept this clause then surely they must be also asked this question and i'd love to hear the response.

Given that there will quite clearly be a reduction in membership at each club should this proposal be accepted, i'd like to know what the financial incentives are. All we have been told is that there will be some but no details of what, why or how. Sturt for example would surely be questioning the incentive to have home games that they have no chance of drawing a crowd that will see them break even. As it stands now they struggle but if the AFL clubs aren't allowed to sell SANFL memberships, can anyone really see many Crows supporters forking out $14 to go to Unley to watch a few list cloggers they have never heard of plus some blokes not good enough to play league footy?

They wont have to fork out anything.
The Cows have worded it wisely, they wont sell SANFL memberships for the Ravens but its a well known fact that an AFL membership entitles the members entrance to reserve games. I dont know of any AFL club that currently doesnt offer this. They are a pack of lying carnts

this won't go through, the SANFL will get the shits on & will start to blackmail the Clubs. I fear for Sturt's immediate future in The SANFL.

The top up player scenario sounds like it would work well. For example per season the crows and port approach wwtfc and say "we want 3 of your 18-22 year olds" and port say "we want 4 of the following 18 to 22 year olds", sounds a real attractive proposition. On top of maybe losing 3 in the multiple afl drafts. I still don't understand the focus on "playing to the line". If centrals made the finals and the ravens made the finals I wouldn't want nutta playing against us. Why's this portrayed as a positive? No real mention of port.

Port and SANFL clubs should put differences aside and band together against this crap and not only reject but get rid of this moronic commission who have become irrelevent .

On the other hand I could always change the name of this site to SARugby.net and people could join me watching Onkas every Saturday afternoon next year.

And this is so unbelievably hypocritical by the proposal given that the whole reason this proposal has been put together is so all the Crows players can play in one team and learn the same game plan etc. What about the SANFL Reserves - aren't they there to do the same thing for the SANFL clubs. If these fringe 18-22 SANFL players are playing to the Crows game plan then how is that helping their SANFL club?

the thing i find baffling over all of this, is that since 91 when the crows came in and in 97 when the power came in, the state has won 3 premierships under the current system, multiple finals matches. So in general you could say the current system works fine. I personally don't see how having a reserves team who will most likely get smashed every week be any benefit to either power and crows.

If anything this proposal would be detrimental to the AFL clubs trying to win an AFL flag not that it will probably ever happen again anyway.

Dare i say once the clubs vote it in would the Commission then have the Power to let Port keep its entire club,
Is this why Port has gone quiet and there is not much detail about port?

Correct me if I'm wrong, I didnt think Port had a voting right? Port might decline the invitation to join should the proposal get up.

Go back a dozen pages and you'll read my posts outlining the "commission position" virtually word for word.

Unfortunately so many were more focused on heaping cr@p on Port Adelaide for rejecting it. Ironically this is the very same dung you're now earmarking for the $ANFL.

You have nothing to fear. Why should we have any faith in Norwood? Didn't they try to enter the AFL a few years back??
