What a disgrace, nothing in that benefits the SANFL clubs,

At least this vindicates my decision to boycott the SANFL if they vote that rubbish in

Might as well add to the chorus..get ****ed.

Benefits to the SANFL clubs in plain English?

As for AFC (or whatever the hell they want to be called) "playing to the line" and not sending players in for surgery etc..hahaha, yep sure.

Port should just refuse to commit to sanfl for 15 years and the model falls over and status quo remains...

So it really is just a Crows model. A token mention of Port and that's it. :?

Any club president that even contemplates voting this in should be forever banished from their club.

The SANFL Commission should equally be ashamed for putting their name to this so called proposal.

This stinks of an AFL back room gun-to-the-head threat ... what are the REAL consequences for the SANFL which have not been made public?

The model in detail says nothing about how the Port SANFL operations will be organised. Will there be a junior grade structure or will the PAM AFL reserves team be stand alone?

"AFL clubs to commit to not recruiting support staff directly from SANFL clubs." - simply unenforceable.

"18 minor round matches over 21 weeks" - conveniently shortened to fit in with AFL scheduling.

"Reduced by $20,000 per SANFL club as acknowledgement of reduction in minor round matches" - So the dinkum SANFL players should get a pay cut to accommodate AFL teams? Good luck getting the players to agree to that.

"AFL clubs to commit to the SANFL competition for 15 years, reviewed by the SANFL on a yearly basis" TRANSLATION: AFL clubs will review their commitment on a yearly basis.

"AFC will not have a home venue; will play as away team throughout the minor round. " And what about the Port reserves team? They still get home matches? So much for equality between the AFL teams.

And the most laughable claim of all is this final piece of scaremongering:

“The alternative to this course of action exposes the SANFL to reduced corporate interest and reduced media coverage while also threatening the relevance of the competition as the best outside of the AFL.”

Bulldust, Olsen. Paying dinkum SANFL players less while expecting them to play in the shadows of their AFL counterparts will do damage to the relevance of the competition - in the eyes of the SANFL supporters and players.

Or, as smacker more succinctly put it: **** off.

Im glad that they are being made to commit for 15 years, Im surprised the AFL clubs are prepared to do this, cause Im sure the next "competitive advantage" will be a National AFL reserves comp and of course they will want to be in it...can see them trying to get out of this arrangement in 2-3 years time tops.

I'm actually coming around to the idea of doing something different on a Saturday afternoon. The fact that our own football commission endorses this gives me little motivation to give a stuff. I hope my club makes a decision I can be proud of.

Good post pseudo. Sums it up nicely.

I'm not sure they could have released a much more insulting or degrading statement than that. It doesn't even attempt to address the concerns that are most at the fore of this issue. Also what does Port think of this? It's basically all about the Crows with a token mention of Port a couple of times but no real indication of what is proposed to happen to them. If this goes through then then RIP SANFL.

Making them commit for 15 years means nothing. The model itself states that the SANFL will review this on a yearly basis, thereby providing a convenient escape clause for the AFL clubs. As our good friend beenreal likes to point out, "times change".

I agree, sanfl has endorsed a model which effectively pulls together the worst possible outcomes for every club in the state barring the crows.

Assuming it means the status quo remains I'm a no AFL in SANFL vote now.

Take up golf. You can join me on the course. If this goes through I'm lost to the SANFL and the Crows.

Agree, I thought them having to commit might make them baulk but the review clause means nothing, once they are in the comp is gone, imagine the SANFL trying to kick them out after letting them in

End of the day we only need 3 clubs to vote against.

In the end I think the clause is there so that if the AFL do start an official reserves competition, the SANFL can say 'off you go'.
