Yeah, that's 7 minutes of my life I'll never get back. Three sentiments sum it up nicely:
'Who is Steve Summerton?'
'Given [the Magpies'] performances and strong attempts at biting the hand that feeds them, **** the lot of them'.
And my personal entry for the unintentionally funniest: 'What a shame that only the Power squad embraced the One Club model'.

You get the idea. It's all absolutely One Club, you see. All one big happy family, with no divide at all. Where one half of the One Club refers to the other half as "them", and its adherents don't even know who a top-5 player in the other half is.

You'll read that comment however it suits your agenda. I'm fairly certain it was sarcasm.

And on his "performances" this season there's no way Summerton is a top 5 player at the Magpies

Fairly certain or certain?? Or are you reading it to suit your agenda?

Who really cares what model is taken by the crows or power, just as long as as much money can be filtered thru to the rotting corpse that is the sanfl to keep the minority in this state happy.

Announcement from Port Adelaide FC

Despite speculation to the contrary, the Port Adelaide Football Club Board of Directors will not be voting today on an AFL reserves model as proposed by the SANFL.

The club appreciates the proposal from the SANFL but there are a number of complex issues still to be resolved.

The club only received the formal offer last night and will not make a hastened decision without further and thorough consultation with a number of key stakeholders to ensure the best interests of the Port Adelaide Football Club as one club are met.

As previously stated, Port Adelaide will have an AFL support team playing somewhere in 2015 and the club needs to decide which option is best for Port Adelaide and its community.

The club will offer no further comment at this stage.

Will Jeremy Clayton and Steven Summerton be invited to make presentations to the board to help them with their decision?

I thought the whole Crows decision was pretty hasty - the whole set up is still being worked out isn't it? So who's to say when this will be announced it won't be the same situation.

And now from Keith Thomas

Dear Members and Supporters,

I promised to have an update for you at the end of the week, so here it is.

The Port Adelaide Football Club directors met today to consider a new offer from the SANFL which would enable all of our AFL-listed players to play for the Magpies in the SANFL next year (when they aren't selected to play for the Power).

Quite simply, we weren't willing to accept the proposal as it was presented to us.

We will seek further clarification from the SANFL on a few key issues early next week and work forward on formulating our plans from there.

I know there has been much speculation surrounding what we might decide on these matters in the media, but I can assure you that we have the best interests of the club at heart and won't be railroaded into rushing a decision which might jeopardise those interests.

I want to end the week on a positive note.

The amount of work that has gone into preparing our fantastic send off for AAMI Stadium on Saturday is incredible and I know you'll all be blown away by the pre-game entertainment at the ground!

So many past greats of this footy club are coming to watch the game, and you'll be able to see them at 3:45pm in our Legends motorcade - names like Russell Ebert, Brian Cunningham, Tim Ginever, John Cahill, Greg Phillips, Gavin Wanganeen, Warren Tredrea and Brett Ebert.

We'll also have a 'premiership parade' showcasing even more of our past players who will represent each of our 13 SANFL flags won at the ground and the 2004 AFL premiership.

It's also Member Recognition Round and 22 lucky members will be selected to receive a guernsey from one of our players on the field at the end of the game.

I look forward to seeing as much black and white at the game tomorrow, it's not often we get to wear the old prison bars in the AFL, so let's make sure it's a day to remember!

See you there,
KT

The loss of Port will hasten the end. Russell E's comments were spot on also - some of the other SANFL clubs had only 1 interest in this - to please the Crows and kill off the Magpies and carve up the spoils. Very obvious at the Woodville meeting - and it wasn't necessarily the 'Woodville' people either - Port and Woodville had a good relationship - our first 2 coaches were Port people. Very hard on PAFC Magpies people - club/team disappears overnight, Rucci is probably right, the 'support' act should not wear the old jumper.

Just a question to the Port fans that I have never heard answered.
When you first decided you were too big for the SANFL and wanted to move on you didnt care that the Magpies wouldnt be playing in the SANFL, what has changed over the years?
The original idea was for the Magpies to cease existance, there was no uproar at the time, now all of a sudden things have changed

The offer to PAFC is now back to matching the one to the AFC (with 12 months of juniors to allow SANFL to get their ducks in a row).

This model officially kills the Magpies. Not great if that is the case.

And no wonder the PAFC took no time at all in saying no to this laughable proposal
