Yep, under that criteria RIG it's a league MVP award voted upon by (IMHO) the leagues best judges .. Massive credibility.

Good result for Angus Rowntree ! Biggest drought in SANFL is WWT and the Magarey - Blighty the last one.

All you MORONS that dont rate Jimmy Allan clearly have no idea about the game at all. There is a reason why he gets 40 touches a game its cause the bloke runs harder than any other player in the comp and his opponents cant go with him for an entire game. yea he gets plenty of handballs received but its not like he sits out on a wing all day with his hand in the air !!!!

Do they vote at end of season?

If this happens i wouldnt imagine to many of the 200 gamers seeing too many games for the year.
This is even worse than the GWS best and fairest if this is the case

One 200 gamer votes on every game. e.g. South and Central at Noarlunga Stewie Palmer might be chosen to cast the votes. I guess it is the same as one Advertiser journalist votes on each game for their award. I find it strange that players who have played 200 games of SANFL footy and you would think no the game rate him so highly and yet a few posters here and a couple of Advertiser journalists who have never played the game don't rate him. I know whose opinion I would respect more.

Correction. From the NAFC website "The R.O Shearman Medal, prior to this season, was judged by the SANFL’s 200 Club members, however this season it was judged by the League Coaches at each game. This Award therefore holds unbelievable credibility within the competition, having those who are experts and closest to the game judge the players they believe were the most outstanding on the day."

I concur with those sentiments.

Lol. How about you just admit that whatever award Allan wins has the most credibility possible? When he wins a Magarey it's the ultimate award for an individual, when he doesn't it's judged by idiots. As for the Shearman having "unbelievable credibility" does that still hold when both coaches' choice for BOG doesn't rate in the other's top 5? It's no different to any other award locked into a voting method. It'll always have a winner who is a good player but offers no flexibility to be a perfect judge.

So obviously your coach who gave Allan b.o.g. twice this year has no credibility even though he has coached 7 premierships. A lot of people aren't happy with the umpires giving the Magarey votes, I am, that is the way it has always been done, but I am also happy with the coaches voting for an award as I am with 200 game players. In the last two cases I think that they know a lot more about the game than you or me.

On a more serious note, didn't Andrew Jarman predict yesterday just after 4.30pm that there would be a tie and that the clubs would be South and Central?

I know they were taking the p*** this afternoon about bets and Leigh Whicker wanting blood but I'm certain he did say that yesterday didn't he?

Apologies if already mentioned.

Yes , he did.

Jarman said Medal is going North and South. To which Ditmar (I think) replied "Oh, Cross and Symes then?"
Is out of change.....thanks Cambridge Clarrie!!!

Anyone catch Boyd's interview on Channel Ten last night? Interesting take on his suspension and not one Jaensch, or Laird for that matter, shares apparently.

That what he got suspended for happens all the time on the footy field. :o

They then showed the incident which didn't reflect well on his previous statement.

Sorry for not showing the requisite adoration of an opposing team.

Nice attempt to avoid the point. You only have to go to round 24 to see an example of one coach giving a bloke 5 votes while the other coach gave the same player 0. I can't tell whether it was Allan or Johnston who got 5 from either Laird or Francou and 0 from the other but how can an award have "unbelievable credibility" when one coach's BOG isn't in the other's top 5!

It doesn't mean the coaches have no credibility so don't try to pull that swifty. Their job isn't to give an accurate vote tally but to get the best out of a team. We've seen time and time again different coaches have vastly different opinions of players and their contribution to their side and there's always merit in what they believe. But no way can the NAFC claim hold up with such variation in opinion from the judges.

I'm beginning to think the betting agencies were onto something with this alleged 'leak'.

The internet feed of the count focused on Joel Cross for a large chunk of the final round and in today's write up on Brad Symes the Central and South Tables were next to each other with the winners with in arms reach of each other :?

Quite simple.
Anyway, we all know the Shearman medal is where its at, selected by 200 game players who know their stuff better than us or the umps, congratulations to Jimmy Allan winning his 6th! :D

How Allan won 1 still puzzles me.. The guy is a seagull. Wouldn't know a thing about a hard ball get. Glad he's leaving, just a pity my Eagles couldn't have sent him packing a week earlier.

That's a good reason for wanting him to leave, because he is so good :?

He's Won more than your whole team(s) ever Bloody Won and will

Ummmmmm im sure Jimmy Allan would give up all his Magarey Medals to have just one of the Eagle hacks premiership medals.

I know what i would be more jealous about.

True, most players would rather be a 1 time premiership player than a 3 time Magarey medallist.
