Is it every 200 gamer that is still alive that votes?
Do they vote at end of season?
If this happens i wouldnt imagine to many of the 200 gamers seeing too many games for the year.
This is even worse than the GWS best and fairest if this is the case
One 200 gamer votes on every game. e.g. South and Central at Noarlunga Stewie Palmer might be chosen to cast the votes. I guess it is the same as one Advertiser journalist votes on each game for their award. I find it strange that players who have played 200 games of SANFL footy and you would think no the game rate him so highly and yet a few posters here and a couple of Advertiser journalists who have never played the game don't rate him. I know whose opinion I would respect more.
Correction. From the NAFC website "The R.O Shearman Medal, prior to this season, was judged by the SANFL’s 200 Club members, however this season it was judged by the League Coaches at each game. This Award therefore holds unbelievable credibility within the competition, having those who are experts and closest to the game judge the players they believe were the most outstanding on the day."
I concur with those sentiments.

Lol. How about you just admit that whatever award Allan wins has the most credibility possible? When he wins a Magarey it's the ultimate award for an individual, when he doesn't it's judged by idiots. As for the Shearman having "unbelievable credibility" does that still hold when both coaches' choice for BOG doesn't rate in the other's top 5? It's no different to any other award locked into a voting method. It'll always have a winner who is a good player but offers no flexibility to be a perfect judge.

I know they were taking the p*** this afternoon about bets and Leigh Whicker wanting blood but I'm certain he did say that yesterday didn't he?
Apologies if already mentioned.

robranisgod wrote:So obviously your coach who gave Allan b.o.g. twice this year has no credibility even though he has coached 7 premierships. A lot of people aren't happy with the umpires giving the Magarey votes, I am, that is the way it has always been done, but I am also happy with the coaches voting for an award as I am with 200 game players. In the last two cases I think that they know a lot more about the game than you or me.

The internet feed of the count focused on Joel Cross for a large chunk of the final round and in today's write up on Brad Symes the Central and South Tables were next to each other with the winners with in arms reach of each other

Quite simple.
Anyway, we all know the Shearman medal is where its at, selected by 200 game players who know their stuff better than us or the umps, congratulations to Jimmy Allan winning his 6th!
How Allan won 1 still puzzles me.. The guy is a seagull. Wouldn't know a thing about a hard ball get. Glad he's leaving, just a pity my Eagles couldn't have sent him packing a week earlier.

That's a good reason for wanting him to leave, because he is so good![]()
