Top up players would potentially come from clubs 35-50 list. Who are generally guys clubs see as not a chance of playing league footy. Go knows how it works when those guys aren't playing for the afl team? Do they go back to the sanfl club? Messy IMO

Even if the player is not seen as having a chance to play league footy there's no incentive for the SANFL team to release them for the AFL (unless they are paid for the release).

Why is it so hard for The Cows to "educate us" & SPECIFICALLY outline their proposal?
How can anyone suggest that because the SANFL Clubs will lose their AFL Players, crowds will drop?
Crowds will drop if the AFL Clubs get their way & field Reserves Teams in the SANFL League Competition - see Foot-e-times survey.

C'mon Rob Chapman, come clean & outline the ENTIRE proposal, "educate us".
Show us (& the pro-AFL Reserves Media) where you get your 'figures' & $$$ from.

I find it interesting that the silence is deafening.

NO AFL in the SANFL!!!

From afar it appears fairly obvious that the Crows haven't bothered to undertake the research required, nor have developed answers to the inevitable "what ifs?" that were going to be thrown their way. As a result the commission has been left with the task of developing a model that will satisfy all parties (mission impossible).

A bloke from Norwood (sorry didn't catch his name) said on 5AAFL last night that clubs were still waiting for all the details.

Sure is deafening.
I'd like them to tell us how on a wet night at Norwood after 4 inches of rain during the week they will fit the following key position/Ruckman into their team without compromising the competition.
Or on any winters day at suburban grounds.

Siggins 195cm
Johnston 190
Hartigan 195
L.Thompson 195
Graham 201
McKernan 198
Osborn 202
Orval 194
Dowdell 202
Klausen 197
And any other basketballer they rookie list next year.

How long would it be before they try and get rid of the cricket pitches from those ovals that share

Please educate us. Lay out a proper plan.

And before you start, a proper plan involves more than just telling us that the SANFL is a dying comp and we should all be grateful for a bit more attention.

AFL clubs like Collingwood already do offer SANFL players very good money equal to what they get now, so yes i do. plus the fact that they are under the eyes of the AFL coaches and use their facilities.

Im not saying the SANFL is a dying comp, some clubs are rooted, yes. but as far as a state based comp i think it is reasonably healthy.
personally as i said i would like it to stay as is. i think the AFL guys playing for each Club adds to the comp.

I dont have an ultimate solution, there are way to many variables to be put in the pot for it to be completely clear how it will work. BUT i do think the SANFL is better off having the AFL listed players still playing in front of South Australian crowds rather then losing touch with these guys completely.

There is an ultimate solution though.

Join our reserves. You get to play your players together and under one structure.

SANFL will benefit with extra crowds/media exposure.

Its a win/win.

Would you refuse to attend a crows reserve game if they played against Centrals reserves instead of league ?? And if so why ???

Another hypothetical

The Crows dont have a single injury on their 47 man list.

Where do the other 4 play?
A) Will it then be OK for their development to play in a SANFL club's resreves?
B) They ask to sit 4 extra on the bench
C) Don't play, should do wonder's for their development

Yes but some clubs will be seduced by these hypothetical $$$$$
Wasn't there a rumour going around that one club couldn't afford its $80k electricity bill for its lights?

All good points
I wonder if the Cows will demand that their reserves don't clash with their league games so their supporters can go to both

If a president wants to explain to his members we have to do this for financial reasons . The question has to be asked.

If clubs need $$$$$ that urgently . Why are we letting the licence fee be paid back over 15 years ????

Please explain ??

What supporters?
4000 quoted?
Please, Collingwood vs Essendon can't get 2000!!!

I have little issue with them in the Reserves Competition but the League, NO WAY!

Yep I would love to see a a journo ask Chapman that exact question

'What evidence do u have that suggests u can get double the crowd to a reserve match compared to what Collingwood and Essendon have shown in the VFL.

What are the main reasons some of you are threatening to rip up your memberships if the AFL get a reserves side in?

1: you don't think your SANFL team could beat the AFL sides?
2: you think the AFL sides would be uncompetitive?
3: you don't want your SANFL side to lose its AFL listed players?
4: you just don't like change. (So no real reason just jumping on the bandwagon)

All I read on this forum is people complaining and bagging the AFL clubs (mainly the crows and just because what they have asked for is more likely to come in than ports) No actual reasons are put forward just that its going to be bad.

I understand you are all passionate about your SANFL club, so why would you abandon them so easily and for no legitimate reason?

Or none of the above.
They are in a differant comp, thats where they should stay.
Dont want any of their players in the comp and definately dont want AFL sides in the SANFL
I wont be ripping up my membership thats for sure
