Jeremy Clayton is swearing his head off at the SANFL, but Port are the ones who have have accepted it.
It's all the SANFL's fault.

Does that mean we will have 14 game reserve comp.

If so Goodluck to the SANFL clubs trying to keep reserves players when they could 4 times more per game over 5-6 more games a season as well

Port power get what they've always wanted, the end of the magpies. The one club concept was initiated to get the pokies license and prince of Wales off the magpies. It was to save off field (admin) costs only, but pretty quickly changed to try to derive an unfair on field advantage. If they don't want to see the end of the magpies, pretty simple don't have a reserves side. Not having a reserves side has worked pretty well for them since their inception.
I'm surprised they've decided to enter the afl reserves. I thought they'd save their money (or the sanfls money), leave their players to develop in a strong comp in teams playing to win, and be seen to support the magpies to appease a portion of their suporter base.
I still find the decisions being made by the Afc, power, sanfl commission and 6 sanfl club boards unfathomable.

The talk at the South members night was that an alternative draw for the ressies may be looked at, with games being played during league bye weeks etc. A few of the volunteers/trainers voiced their opposition to this, suggesting that volunteers wont be keen to commit to stand-alone reserves games in additional to regular duties.

Agree with all this, especially the final comment. Still cant believe the value the Power are placing on this "support" team, at the expense of the Maggies.

That's the other point, play two less games so make 2000 spectators * $14 = $28k times 2= $56k lost revenue versus $40k from the crows??? Wtf!

The argument was that the number of home games will stay the same. But we all know the proposed benefits are just BS. As the days drift by I'm left wondering more and more as to what the f*ck were those 6 clubs thinking?

Nothing but a debacle from day 1 of negotiations.

I never thought that I would ever ever every say anything like this about a Port Adelaide player, but Steven Summerton is my new hero. History will record that some weren't just meekly led into the slaughterhouse.

I blame Geelong

Both Hinkley and Sanderson are sheep from that herd.
Somehow i think the success of Geelongs AFL side and their reserves has more to do with Father/son picks than development in their own team.
Geelong is also unique in that I'd imagine local Geelong people would want to be part of the Geelong team and would aspire to be top up players and bragging rights in their town that they play for Geelong no matter the level. In other words they have some pride in their town.
Not going to happen here, think Sanderson and Hinkley are in for a huge shock.
What happens when the next coach comes along and decides its better for his players development to be spread amongst all SANFL teams so that they learn how to earn a spot

Yeah, that's 7 minutes of my life I'll never get back. Three sentiments sum it up nicely:
'Who is Steve Summerton?'
'Given [the Magpies'] performances and strong attempts at biting the hand that feeds them, **** the lot of them'.
And my personal entry for the unintentionally funniest: 'What a shame that only the Power squad embraced the One Club model'.

You get the idea. It's all absolutely One Club, you see. All one big happy family, with no divide at all. Where one half of the One Club refers to the other half as "them", and its adherents don't even know who a top-5 player in the other half is.

No more Magpies means no more league to me...

Amazed at how retarded the directors are...

I can see games getting 1000 or less within 2-3 years...

You'll read that comment however it suits your agenda. I'm fairly certain it was sarcasm.

And on his "performances" this season there's no way Summerton is a top 5 player at the Magpies
