2012 Grand Final Norwood D West Post Game Discussion

Congrats Legs, well deserved. As for West, I feel for the players in the fact you have Collins for a coach. People keep saying if West had certain players in 'we would have had more flexibility in their forward line'. Only problem with that is they still would have been standing in Norwood's forward line. For so long now people have been hoping it is not a Nwd v Wst grand final and I see why but we can only beat the team that was good enough to get there. Yes, we do play a defensive style but with intent of getting the ball forward. We tried our bit in both finals but West didn't. We would have beaten anybody. It was our time and we were not going to let it go. As for free tickets, they give them out every year. As for waiting another 15 years for another one, Ad Mcguinness, Fuller, Newton, Campbell and a host of young players on the verge of this squad and would be very confident it will not be another 15 years.

If you read the whole thread you will find that I was answering Flying High's question about who was out and infact I wrote this after....

Dont get me wrong, I am not giving them an excuse, Norwood where far the better team. I was was just responding to FH question of who was out.

No worries Brodlach, my mistake, esp re Tippett, Webb and Beech.
Didn't think Still had played much league during the year. Was Laird injured or dropped?

Still was injured alot of the year, play one game in the reserves and get a different injury. He would have been in the best 22 especially with Webb out.

Laird was out injured.

Rory wasn't out injured, he was dropped...

Did the Reserves call with Tait Kaesler, who is involved with Rory at the Crows, and he said Rory was left out of the side, not injured...

Interesting, I was told by someone at the club it was due to the knock to the head he got last week

Nah, Tait said he was fine from that. He even came back on the ground after coming off. Was left out of the side for Ben Fisher...

Sorry poorly structured by me and I did see your previous post, I was more implying that both teams had good players out and maybe Nwd the better of those missing from both.

The thing is, how can you win without kicking goals?
Fair enough in the first quarter, absorbed the pressure and probably had the better opportunities but once things started getting out of hand, you've got to THINK about changing the mindset and attacking.

Yep agree. Players kicked sideways instead of kicking towards goal even if the they had someone in the open. Mind you their skills were so bad god only knows where some of those kicks would have gone.

Congratulations to Norwood. By far been the best team this year and deserve the Premiership. Enjoy it legs fans.
As for Westies I thought they would have delivered a better contest and I feel for their supporters seeing that display on the big stage, but you've had a great year and should be up around the mark again in 2013.
