Central (2). Has one club had as much to do with a rival coach's sacking as Central did with Mark Mickan? Consider the Bulldogs record v Mickan: They won 10 (and drew one) of their last 11 games against the Tigers; they held a 3-0 record against Glenelg in finals, including wins in the 2008 Grand Final and the 2009 second semi; and handed out two of the most humiliating defeats you're likely to see in two games against the Tigers this season. Roy Laird and his men had as much to do with Mickan's demise as anything that happened inside the inner sanctum at the Bay.

There was a bloke called Ron over at the Eagles who lost a lot more finals and GFs before a parting occurred!

BTW i should of pointed out the above quote is from the monday morning centreman review of the sanfl. Not my own.

Ah well that's different. I rate your credibility far above the monday morning centreman. Senational media crap :D

Still think the Bays would have won a flag under Mickan...maybe not this year but next year would have been a huge chance.

This will come back to bite them on the a**....guaranteed

The barbs thrown at Glenelg are understandable considering the rate coaches were changed post Cornes pre Mickan. However, Central District are the only club to not have a change of coach during Rubbers' reign at Tigerland. Every other club had/has at least two coaches that Rubbers bucked horns with during his tenure, some clubs three, one club four. I think GFC have erred, but i'm a member, supporter, Pirate, and I have to back in my club. I wish Mark all the best and have no doubt he will more than contribute in a positive way to a club's success in the future.

I agree. Lack of stability of other clubs is one reason our dynasty has continued.

Now we need Norwood to sack their coach. Anyone got any suitable photos or rumours to assist?

One or two more floggings for the Crows, and Adelaide could help you out on the Norwood coaching front.

Bassett I can't see taking a senior coaching position at AFL level until he's been an assistant at another AFL club. So he'd be very unlikely to replace Craig next year. If anyone does, it'll be Goodwin. Bassett more likely to join the panel as an assistant, but he might not think that giving up a senior SANFL job for an AFL assistant job is wise at the moment.

Then again Shaun Rehn probably wishes he'd left West at the end of 2003 before he got exposed as a poor coach, so Bassett might want to strike while the iron's hot.

Roy Laird has turned down AFL offers to keep coaching Central. I doubt any SANFL club could pry him away.

Ugh, I hope you're not a Grant Thomas fan. One of the few on TV that if you didn't know who he was you'd swear he was some bloke at a bar they brought in.

Just imagine if Collingwood sacked Malthouse after 2002-03 Grand Final losses- where would the club be now if they had Glenelg's Management?
