Agree that was a shocker, and the ump could clearly see Callinan was holding the ball under the Norwood player.

Question regarding the celebrations at HHO, why dont they hold them on the Oval?

in case it's wet.

Also holding the after party in the front members car park is easier to get people out at close time.

Come on Centurion your a good and fair person but reverse the roles and honestly would you be saying the same ?
Head area from a frontal shepherd or attack is an automatic free kick and in many instances a report.
Callihan is a great player but in my honest opinion will miss the early part of next season from suspension.

So Callinan will be free to play next season then.

So they don't have anymore cases of people getting pissed at the party and then crashing out in the CDFC coaches box. 8-[

If they take in to consideration that Flipper's bottom jaw has been screwed and wired, there is a small break just below his ear and faces 2 or more operations, including removal of wisdom teeth, then surely he'll go!

IF accidental, then still surely a free kick.

Wonder if Callinan will have the good grace to at least send Flip a text saying sorry, somehow I feel not!

Sorry for my poor spelling. US Norwood supporters struggle a bit as we get older and crave for a premership like your great club is taking almost for granted. Well done again for 2010.

Has Weatherald sent a text to Boyd to apologise for breaking his leg? By all accounts it wasn't accidental contact.

A little known fact is that Danny Hulm would of been reported in the 2000 GF if he didn't retire...get the DVD (i've got it!) and look at the dust up on the wing with about 2-3 minutes left in the match...

look, He meant to bump him, Ian is only short, He didn't belt him deliberately, He was shepherding. It was hard & tough & your guys would have done exactly the same thing. 3 umpires on the oval, no report, maybe in hindsight it should have been a free, maybe. And don't go on about the Boyd thing, the game is over, move on.

Its only being looked at because of the nature of the injury, and I've got no problem with that. I'd be surprised if he misses any games.

Watched the replay last night and Duigan was CLEARLY just laying on top of the ball not attempting to get it out. Correct decision paid for mine, except Fila did pay it like an AFL umpire, could have called it quicker IMHO...

Selectively frozen image there Dutchy, it's pretty clear Duigan made NO attempt for about 10 seconds before Callinan had his hand on the ball.

I was there and am a neutral, only one they paid all day and given the way it was umpired, ie almost anything went then probably ball up, but, Callinan grabbed Duigans hand before he went to ground and in context of law, probably the only one they should have paid all day, I think Duigan had a quick nanny nap as soon as he went to ground, then realised he had better do something. Good discussion point over an ale, but correct decision.

I wouldn't normally weigh into this sort of thing, but for what its worth, I was sitting about 20 metres from this incident, it occurred in front of me. I thought at the time it looked a hard but fair bump and have seen nothing since to change that view. Very unfortunate for Phillips, but that is football - particularly in a Grand Final.

I'm with you CK.
If the umpire didn't spot it when it happened, how malicious could it have been?

Sorry Phil, but I'm with Dutchy on this one, for one very simple part of the interpretation of the rule - no prior opportunity. Duigan initially handballs it to Georigou and gets it back under pressure. He has barely completed a step before being tackled, well and fairly, by Callinan. No prior opportunity to dispose of the ball properly. A ball up would have been the correct call. In fairness, Sutherland has a mark that should have been paid about a minute prior, but punched out of his hands.
