Have not caught up on the Crows proposal but Rucci on radio this morning said it was poorly pitched and would be laughed at.

I know of one president who labelled it an "insult".

Advertiser journo Warren Partland said on RPH today that the word he had heard was the Crows 'presentation' was rubbish and disrespectful...

From what we've heard this thing will happen if, and it's a big if, the two AFL clubs give in to all the demands of the SANFL clubs.
For example, a cap on the $ spent on top up players, gate revenue kept by home club ie. extra home games for 8 SANFL clubs, annual dividend to the 8 clubs locked in at 150-160k, the 2 AFL licences sold and that dividend locked in until paid in full and an air tight contract to conform to the rules set out by the SANFL.
So Port won't change anything they do, as their broke anyway, while the Crows will have to pay to play by our Rules.
You can work an argument any which way you like, but the lack of any growth in the comp is THE key reason why it will be a 10 team comp again as of next season :?

Pity AFL centric writers such as Scott Walsh can write a quite one sided piece how the Swans AFL Canberra experience PROVES the SANFL should modernise and let AFL sides in

whilst

a true SANFL writer in Warren Partland does not get to write about his thoughts.

Maybe Scott Walsh has a view on this article. Clubs with 50+ years from NSW & QLD being axed mercilessly by the AFL to get the NEAFL up to speed and soon the two Northern conferences to be merged into one.
All for the greater good of course! **** their history, **** everyone involved with the clubs....you're out!
PROGRESS AFL STYLE!!!!!!!
With the merging of these two conferences an AFL reserves comp is just around the corner.

According to the CH7 news, it sounds like the "big carrot" the Crows are dangling in front of the SANFL clubs is a $80,000 a year payment ............. unguaranteed and is subject to crowd numbers.

If any SANFL club is so broke they need to bend over for a POSSIBLE $80k a year, they might as well close the doors now, $80k won't save you, the more likely lower figure certainly wont either.

NO AFL IN THE SANFL

How's the Cows piss poor crowd today!
Even Footy is in recession in this State. If this plan is relying on crowd numbers to bring in big $ we might as well believe Julia Gillard will be coming back and will make a good PM!

That NEAFL story is a cracker .....

over the years

The AFL has almost killed off the identity of every old VFA club

You have this happening to the traditional clubs in ACT & QLD in the NEAFL

And in AFLTasmania you have something bordering on chaos
(these are in chronoloigical order)

Then there is the restructured WAFL where the WA Football Commission can override the wishes of 7 of the 9 clubs and introduce AFL host club arrangements.

That leaves the SANFL ....

The more this goes on the more certain it appears we stay with the status quo. Port Adelaide have almost guaranteed that.
Have to say this ...... really respect that they would pull the pin on a reserves side to save the Magpies identity and traditions.
However being suspicious with anything Port say I would imagine it is more to thwart the Crows than anything else.

I have to agree with both lines of that post

Hard to have a go at Walsh, he knows where his bread is buttered. You actually know that Partland has been told not to write his thoughts PhilH? There are better points to argue over than an article from Walsh. I don't think I really understand all of the issues but my instinct is No AFL in the SANFL. Would love someone on here to actually show someone like me the arguments for and against instead of tailoring the issue to end up at their view. Reckon that would get a better hearing to.

I thought along both lines.
Respect, then knowing how devious port are, what are they up to....
Probably leave crows to do the dirty work then, when dust settles, complete their ideology of one club.

No I know nothing about the inner circles at News Ltd

But every story has at least two sides to it (sometimes more)

AFL writers Jespar F, Scott W & Rucci all get opinion pieces, why not Warren for a bit of balance?

Why not have a page allocated for a debate with Scott the pro reserves argument and Warren the other.

That would be worth reading.

It's like all the News+ ads we are coping, lots about extra sports coverage .... nothing about SANFL in any of that.

The need for something like FOOT-e TIMES SA to provide some sort of balance and SANFL perspective grows greater by the week. Just wish we could do more with it but need to grow it in a managable level.

What would be more powerful is if everyone just wrote on this footy site instead of it being diluted via Talkingfootysa, foot-e-times etc.
