Comparing the SANFL to the Canberra league?
Where teams come and go from one year to the next?
A greater load of twaddle I have not read.

The Port Adelaide Football Club has shown itself to be not one you can trust or believe. Even your new Chairman has lied and changed re the Reserves debate since taking office including lying to Hinkley and promising him a Reserves Team. Kochie would have or should have known that meant "killing" the Magpies only he wants the SANFL to do it because he is gutless but maybe not living in SA for years he probably doesn't really have a clue about SA Football. He is a media "wind bag" chasing ratings!

Now that's amazing. With such an array of anti-Port Adelaide cliches, half truths and hyper pole' and yet you couldn't manage to parrot in a single reference to "selfish"?

Whatever one club picks up, they would probably lose a part of their existing zone and so on until all 8 clubs picked up about 11-14% of numbers the Port zone gave up.

Sorry, probably getting a bit off-topic but the "Salisbury" topic has been touched on in this thread.

Re that I've boldfaced, I agree. While some may see an affinity between the CDFC and all that is Salisbury Council zone, on census method alone, its difficult to argue Port were advantaged in the long term to begin with. Yes, I do appreciate there were short term issues of "prior investment" at the time as have been discussed, and fair enough.

The Centrals heartland of Playford has around 70k (and growing!) , so an allocation of about half of Salisbury 130k Council area with the current nine teams is reasonable, assuming similar age distributions.

Under an eight way division (assuming complete re-distribution existing Port zone) I feel we could reasonably lay claim to about another 20k of it, less any we might pick up of North's existing Tea Tree Gully area ( :?: )

Just my view.

Sorry folks, play on.

Simple. We'd be wasting our breaths putting our case before him; "logic just wouldn't cut it".

Far more expedient to tell the cretin to F*** Right Off, and jam his reserves team where it would make him squeak.

Sheer poetry, so subtle in expression and delicate in its poignancy. Love your work. :D

The bloke makes some reasonable points (and some not so), but this one **** me off:

The plain, brutal truth is the SANFL competition is no longer SA football's pinnacle. Ignorance of that is just a fear of change.

I know a shedload of people at my club and others and not once, ONCE, has any of them ever claimed that we (SANFL) are the pinnacle of SA Football.

They have said they prefer it, but they are under no illusions as to which is the biggest competition.

Seriously how deluded are some of these people .. Would they say that the WAFL should tamper with their competition however necessary to fit the Crows and Power in? No? Oh, why's that? Because it's a totally separate league that has no responsibility to clubs in a different competition, so how is the SANFL any different?

I'm open minded enough to sit down and listen to all the pro's and con's from all parties, but don't feed us BS like this nobody that's trying to make a name for himself.

Seems to me this bloke is reinforcing the point that an AFL clubs players can be developed in by playing together even in a lower standard competition ( which the Canberra comp definitely was ) ergo why the dismissal of SANFL reserves comp as a trial, or just straight to the VFL which will probably end up as the AFL reserves comp anyway.

No, not in 115+ pages. None of the port advocates can, chapman can't "teach" us nor can thomas or Koch despite getting countless media opportunities and forums to do so. Despite having significant resources, they cant perform simple "google" research to get their facts right, or support their propositions. Perhaps you just can't explain the inexplicable.

personally the worst part for me was the "its already compromised" argument. sure, "that chick has been raped before, so therefore it isn't a problem if she is raped again, go your hardest"......

that and there was absolutely no explanation on how it would be a benefit to the sanfl. just bs on how good it was for Sydney, and how their reserves dominated the comp and went undefeated. that's kinda the point douche, it isn't a level playing field between reserves sides and the rest, so they can **** off elsewhere. afl centric wankers just don't get it.

that pretty much sums up the article =D>

I don't know that any reporter outside of SA, for that matter, any reporter that doesn't attend at least a few SANFL games a year can possibly understand the relevance that the SANFL still has to a large proportion of the population, no other state league that pre AFL was the number 1 sports competition in their state has kept relevant to so many people, the SANFL is unique in that sense and should be shown due respect

Does Rob Chapman manage the boardroom the same way at St George Bank.

Sorry, don't have time for a business case so I'll educate you on the benefits instead, without actually outlining the proposal in any detail.

Is it approved then?

Exactly. It's like, don't research it too much or provide any facts or it will weaken the proposal. Simple question from day one, how will the presence of afl reserves in our comp benefit the sanfl teams? (Insert the sound of crickets). The sanfl has survived without the afl reserves and with two afl teams since ports inception.
