6th August Hmmm - SANFL Split Round - Glenelg aren't programmed to play on that weekend.
He won't miss a Glenelg game .... OK, it fits into the GFC schedule.

We could loan him back for one game I suppose. But only if he wants to ;)

The story has now changed and his name is spelt right now.
Someone reads forums.

Chad Cornes is set to give it away

Michelangelo Rucci
From:The Advertiser
June 22, 201112:00AM

CHAD Cornes is ready to call an end to the long-running debate on his place at Port Adelaide by retiring.

His farewell game is expected in the Power's home blockbuster against Collingwood on August 6.

But how many games Cornes adds to his 235-game record before taking an emotional salute at AAMI Stadium remains uncertain.

Port last night was not prepared to publicly declare an end to Cornes' grand career at Alberton.

But Power football operations chief Peter Rohde did endorse a farewell game for Cornes.

"We're very comfortable with a farewell game," said Rohde. "Certainly nothing has been planned.

"We've not even reached the stage where we are talking about it."

But Cornes, 31, has read the play at Alberton where he has failed to win a place in the Power line-up since April 30 when he was a key forward against North Melbourne at Etihad Stadium.

Port has ruled out playing Cornes in defence where he earned his first All-Australian selection as a centre half-back in 2004, the Power's premiership season.

It does not consider him quick enough to be - as Cornes wants to be - a pinch-hitting midfielder. He was an All-Australian midfielder in 2007, the last time the Power played in an AFL grand final.

This leaves Cornes to be considered as a key forward, his original role in the Power line-up. But Cornes today is a third-choice forward behind Jay Schulz and Justin Westhoff.

In the meantime, Cornes remains at SANFL club Glenelg waiting to replace either Westhoff or Schulz, who has been troubled by knee injuries this season.

He made his AFL debut with the Power - after being a first-round draftee in 1997 - in the first Showdown against the Crows in 1999.

The perfect script of having Cornes start and end his AFL careers in the derbies is not possible. The next Showdown - on July 31 - is an Adelaide home game.

This would deny Power supporters the chance to be at AAMI Stadium to salute one of the clubs' greatest AFL players.

The next-best option is the Saturday night clash with the Magpies on August 6 when the Power has planned major events around its "Back In Black" debt-reduction campaign.
For every one I miss I am closer to a hole in one.

Or he just cut and pasted something a Crows support wrote on an Adelaide forum.
It's all the SANFL's fault.

A negative article on the AFL reserves potential.
Bis surprise it's not written by Rucci. Even mentions Fitzpatrick from the AFL isn't convinced it's the best idea.

I think it's in reference to Metcalf supposedly inviting all the other club presidents around to sway them towards a no vote in the initial Port merger begging.
It's all the SANFL's fault.

The comment I sent today regarding his "Rip" column:

Time and again Michelangelo you make reference to Port succeeding Norwood in the bid to gain the states first AFL license, yet not once have you supported your theory/opinion/fabrication with even a skerrick of evidence. Time to put up or shut-up don't you think? Or are you happy to just continually feed the easily led minions with whichever factually bereft content you choose at the time?

No doubt it won't make it through, nor be answered .. It's not like it's the first time I've requested he support his comments with any kind of factual evidence.

Another hilarious article. If there's no civil war he's determined to create one.

Mark Haysman: Go away, Rooch, this is not a good time.
Rucci: I saw you and Leigh Whicker fighting...I'm worried there could be a civil war and SA footy would be ruined forever.
Mark Haysman: [scoffs] I'm sure you'd really hate that. There's not going to be a civil war, Rooch.
Rucci: Yeah...Leigh Whicker says you wouldn't have the won-tons to go through with it.
Mark Haysman: Whicker said that?
Rucci: Well, I had to clean it up a little.

[in Leigh Whicker's office]
Rucci: Basically, Haysman said you'd give Port everything they want.
Leigh Whicker: He did?
Rucci: Yeah. He said you'd fold faster than Superman on laundry day.
Leigh Whicker: We'll see about that! Rucci, I always thought you were...sneaky and manipulative. Now I see you really are a respected senior journalist.
It's all the SANFL's fault.
