Morris three weeks is ridiculous. McReadie and Morris got their names mixed up I suggest. Umppy not having a good night at the tribunial either. At the game on sunday it felt like they had lost control of the game.

Interesting comments re Allers.

If you look at the online footage of the melee after the Allan incident, you can see Alleway on the ground punching away at MacReadie. Don't know if any of them landed, but attempted striking is reportable.

Yeah he definitely threw a couple of jabs at Macreadie. Footy is a funny game. West supporters upset that Alleway didn't get reported for seeking a bit of payback after his teammate got decked, North supporters delighted their captain flew the flag for his vice captain.

PS. Macreadie got 1 for striking, so the worse Allers would of received would of been a reprimand.

You don't get a discount for retaliation.
And I don't think that's the incident West supporters were upset about, from my reading of this thread.

Gowans got a 2 game reduction for retaliation a couple of years ago. I can only go by the evidence YOU presented sorry. You could just accept the punishments accepted and move on, instead of whinging.

Morris' 3 match suspension is more like 4 because of the bye at the conclusion of his 3rd match.
Serving suspensions in the Foxtel Cup seems wrong BUT themz the current rules....

Prefer the old system the tribunal ran on - dont like points systems because often formulas dont fit all scenarios. A tribunal should have a feel for footy and the game when making decisions. Leave the maths and this system to the AFL where they can continue sterilising thier game.

So it's whingeing when I say it's a stupid penalty, but not apparently when you do.

Gowans' reduction was because he was provoked, i.e hit earlier by Schubert(?). Alleway wasn't hit by MacReadie, Allan was.

I have accepted his non-report, I was simply responding to your question about whether he'd done anything reportable. Consider me moved on.

Anymore problems with the tribunal should be directed at redandblack. He keeps telling us they do a fine job. ;)

I will also respond to that troll, TSG.

I do think they do a fine job. I think Mark Beswick is correct in saying that formulae don't always fit all scenarios. In this case it clearly doesn't. That's not necessarily the fault of the tribunal, but of the points formula, which in this case has grossly over penalised the incident.

To clear up some of the other confusion: IMO, after Morris bumped the North player, another North player (I'm pretty sure it was Allan(?) forcefully bumped Morris in the back and sent him to the ground. This (I think) is what led to MacReadie hitting Allan.

Separately, Alleway is shown on video attempting to strike, but was not cited.

Separately again, Ryan Ferguson contested a mark with (I think) Nick Gill. The non-officiating umpire whistled a free from a long way away against Gill. The video is obscured, but Ferguson took some time to take his kick and was obviously affected by a knock to the head.
