Darren Mead coached a mate of mine and he put pretty much every player in the team off side with his manner which is why he moved on. I just read that he is possibly coming to the Bays as an assistant or reserves coach. Has that been confirmed?

Does anyone have any thoughts on this? I wouldn't have thought he had the best reputation. Why would the bays want him when noone else did?

From what I witnessed he didn't do too good with the junior boys at South when he was there either.
As in from my observations if you were under x feet tall (or small I should say) he'd wouldn't even look at you when addressing the team.
Now this may not have been intentional of course - after all he was new to coaching at that point.

Seemed nice enough as a person but I felt sorry for those boys who started off idiolising him,
and ended up thinking he was - well - not idiolising him...lol.

But as I said that's just from a junior - under 15 group,
Could be a totally different kettle of fish with the older guys.

My 2c worth anyway O:)

Thanks A Mum. Yes I know that he put a lot of people offside at South but he coached my mate in amateur league and they were mostly guys in their 20s. Perhaps it's just a rumour that he has the job at the Bays as I can't imagine it being the case - I have been warned that you don't get many facts here.

Well I don't know who told you that BT.

To the contrary I find this a very good site for fact,
But what fun would there be if there was no fiction to go with it.

Overall not just a good site but a great site IMO! O:)

Agree with your comments A Mum.

Clarification required here ... I'm the one who mentioned facts in the Brett Backwell Rumour thread. LOL, my comment was related to 'facts' in that thread, not the whole site!
Dunno, I’m just an idiot.

Meady is very professional and very committed. The bays would do well to have him. He was my coach last year and I thought he performed well with an underperforming side. My 2c worth.

I've worked with Meady and he is fantastic. He's a man's man and calls a spade a spade. You know exactly where you stand with the bloke. He has a great footy brain. Some people need to toughen the cufk up.

Interestingly an ex Central District and AFL player is back living in the Northern Suburbs again, not sure as whether they are looking to play again or at what level, but they looked in shape and appeared to be wanting to do a big preseason whoever they play for.

I hear today that Stewy Dew has signed with the Swans as a development coach.

I wasn't suggesting that it was him just thought he had been brought up a while ago as a possible inclusion.

I have heard there a quite a few glenelg players, mainly fringe players such as Day, who are talking to their former coach Micheal Godden at the eagles. Could be a few more leaving the bay for Oval Ave.

Well judging by who's at training so far this year not quite sure "quite a few" is a 100% right. Mind you not all players are back yet, but that is the senior group (league players) who aren't due back until next week.
Let that be a lesson to you Port, no one beats the Bays five times in a row in a GF and gets away with it!!!

Well i was told there were 7 to be precise talking with the Eagles, sounding out their chances is probably a better term. Not sure how serious they all are but they are putting the feelers out.
