The Suns and GWS have probably added more than what they cost in the last tv rights deal. GWS is a long term project. Come back in 15-20 years if it has failed then.

This model was firstly put to all league directors at a meeting and then (I believe) individually with it being made very clear that this model would not be accepted by the SANFL league directors. No issues there, I knew it never would be but as always you start negotiations high.

The compromise, put to the Port Adelaide Football Club, would spell the end of the Magpies as we know it. I dont want that for one minute and it is pleasing to know neither does David Koch or Keith Thomas. To be honest I dont think the SANFL league directors would want that either.

So things remain the same, for Port, anyway.

It is then up to Adelaide to convince the SANFL league directors to accept them into the SANFL.

I'd like to believe them when they say they don't want to see the end of the Magpies. That would at least indicate some sort of football "soul". Maybe the existence of such a thing at the Power will help them to understand the threat we feel to our competition. Until now there seemed to be no problem disregarding the credibility of the SANFL as long as the Magpie survived in it. Perhaps the threatened extinction of the Magpies can become a touchstone, an indicator of the common ground we share regarding losing our footballing heritage.
Then again, if it's yet another gambit, stay tuned for the next dirty trick. I've learned my lesson.

So the PAFC does what you all want and leaves things alone, but now you're questioning their motives.

RIIIIIIIGHT!

Never happy much?

Strewth!
So much for acknowledging the good it may represent. If your track record wasn't so shithouse I wouldn't hedge the compliment with caution.
I guess it was my innate hatred for Port that made me question their motives right? Because there's nothing that Port could've done in the past to make anyone suspicious.

Yes, because Port did something good and yet I mercilessly sunk the boot in anyway.

15-20 years

Can you see any supporters/members/sponsors willing to wait that long? I cant. GWS are a joke now and I cant see them improving for at least 5 years and by then I'd say some of their young group would be looking elsewhere to simply enjoy winning a game or two every year.

Interesting comment/rumour on the VFL Footy forum this morning...
http://vflfooty.com/comment/50450#comment-50450

I haven't heard any news yet on the SANFL Commission meeting from last night but I can say both the Crows and Port have been offered $625k each to help with costs to have their reserves sides in the VFL. SANFL Clubs do not want them in their competition.

No idea where he got that info, but certainly interesting.
