Overall a good game, and I though the ground was OK.

I'd have to agree 100%.
Walking from the ground after the game my one thought was that Glenelg lacked a tall marking forward - too much to do for the (erratic) McConnell - gosh he must give you lot the jitters kicking from 25 out! He was the only real marking forward yesterday.

Otherwise, a pretty entertaining game, and Glenelg on their day are the third best team in the comp, IMHO...

Any Glenelg players by chance perusing this site ignore that last statement....keep the shoulders to the wheel boys, shoulders to the wheel....

A long way for us to go yet...
Let that be a lesson to you Port, no one beats the Bays five times in a row in a GF and gets away with it!!!

Sad to hear there were no 'issues' with any flags.

Unlike last week, when Norwood were waving white ones all over the ground?

I thought the bays were terrible at Elizabeth earlier in the season. At the time the margin was the smallest we'd won by but I thought the opposition was the worst we'd played. At least yesterday you put up a fight I thought. Perhaps the umps halped balance things, and in the end I thought we were still in control so it's fairly hard to judge but just got the feeling there was a bit more to contend with.

No sorry to disappoint you Dutchy, I'm still here.

I will say though looking at the stats from all their games Glenelg has been the most competitive 4 quarter side all season (not including Centrals for obvious reasons) win, lose or draw and in all their games and including today (wasn't lookin good early though) they been in a position to win in all of their losses. So maybe their current ladder position doesn't do their form or workrate justice but what is missing that has stopped them winning those games?

A big quality forward who can kick straight & a bit of luck...Would be good to have another quality tall down back as well..

What has happened to Mitchell? I remember a couple of years back when the Bays went down by less than a goal at home and he kicked a few from CHF including a couple of huge bombs from outside 50.I was not unhappy to see him in the reserves yesterday.

You make your own luck in this game. Forward would be useful for them, but there doesn't seem to be the depth across the board ATM. Defense doesn't seem to give them much either.

He was playing his 50th game for us on sunday(he was out there mate, i'm guessing your taking the piss, he was the only one who doesn't need to wash his jumper this week). Really expect more from him, he has been very inconsistant, last week he was great, this week he seemed to be not interested, must work harder or he could be playing ressies..

Not much depth  ? Glenelg won the reserves vs a Centrals team full of guys who are probably up to league standard. Maybe you were hasty in letting reserves star Brooks go to strut

Don't really agree, but to some extent you are correct, you make your own luck most of the time. Imho we have plenty of depth in the small to midsize players, just need to get some more quality big guys.

Maybe you could have a chat with Fev. I reckon he'd love Holdfast Shores, plenty of clubs, etc.

A few comments from last week worth revisiting -

Sam_goUUUdogs wrote:If Centrals play their 2nd full 4 Qtr game for the year they will win by 100+

Grahaml wrote:The bays will get nowhere near the dogs if the dogs even play at 80% of their best. Glenelg will firstly have to upset the dogs run and attack on ball and body to bring them down a level, and then will have to play hard running clean football to win. I can't see it happening though, and if Glenelg aren't right on top of their game and desperate they will get flogged. Big test of character for them. They can always hope though that the dogs get too far ahead of themselves.

giffo wrote:Without the hardness at the ball and a willingness to run all day, Glenelg will struggle to match up to Central.

sturt1 wrote:Cant wait to use the scoreline as part of my signiture.

 Like your post Dutchy. I think that the Bays are actually playing closer to their true potential now and will be a finals contender if they can continue to improve.

i reckon we have to win 6 out of 8 to make sure of a finals birth, no easy task if injuries should hit or if our afl listed guys are taken - yes i know we shouldnt rely on them but we do for some reason, particularly dougie, so every home hame has to be won plus 2 of our 4 away games need to be won as well, time will tell
