First and only footballer to do that is he.

So his not the JC that busted a spleen? for the Magpies in a final then.

Probably knew the death of the Magpies was coming soon enough, everyone else at the club did including the Powers Coaching assistants.

He had surely served his time as an SANFL league footballer and got everything he could from himself, going to the country at the end of his career. Equivalent to Ponting doing some T20. Surprised at that comment from you given he is probably the best Magpie post Power.

Firstly, I have nothing but admiration for Jezza. He was indeed, post AFL entry, the best Magpie player we have had. He bust plenty of things over the years for the Magpies. My only gripe? I think he could still be playing at that level, I dont personally think he was finished but it wasn't my decision, obviously. His body told him enough was enough so he moved on, thats his call.

I'm pretty disappointed with the whole situation, as you could well imagine. The last thing I want to see is Port people fighting with our own.

Like when the Power and the Magpies were at each other's throats before they became "one club"?

Not really up with this to be honest but why do they have to change the name of Port Adelaide Magpies if and when they are the Power's seconds side in the AFL ?
The Crows have to use a different name why not Port ?

Some fair points there.

Edit: Regardless of who's done what at admin level at the clubs and the league/s, some real hurt being felt by supporters and club people generally at the moment, both long time Maggies people and across the SANFL.

From John Olsen - SANFL:

“When the decision was taken to admit a support team from the Adelaide Football Club into the SANFL competition from 2014, the SANFL League Directors resolved to make the same invitation to the Port Adelaide Football Club.

“Following discussions, Port Adelaide then came back with some minor alterations to the model and, at a meeting held this morning, the League Directors have agreed to that proposal.

“We now anticipate that the Board of the Port Adelaide Football Club will consider the matter at its meeting tomorrow night.”

This is interesting, "minor alterations"?

Although if "honest John" told me it was daytime, I'd brush my teeth, put on my pyjamas and hop into bed.

The continual use of the phrase 'support teams' makes me want to puke.

Not that it makes a difference, it is what it is, a Reserves team. But it would be somewhat respectful if they were referred to as the Crows SANFL team and Port SANFL team instead of "support" or "reserves".
