Dietrich BBQ Stand would be appropriate, surely.
Or...the Dietrich Taj, maybe.

Just wondering what the intent of your banner is. Is the banner asking for:

No AFL Reserves teams in the SANFL League comp?
No AFL Reserves teams in the SANFL Reserves comp?
No AFL listed players at all connected to any SANFL club?
The SANFL to be a complete stand alone Adelaide suburban competition like the SAFA was in the 1970s and 80s?

Which option is it?

I reckon the majority view of those who are supporting the banner would be

- NO WAY to AFL Reserves sides in the SANFL League comp
- AFL Reserves sides in the SANFL Reserves comp only if there really was no other option.
- not that fussed if AFL listed players keep playing for SANFL clubs (the status quo), or if AFL listed players play in some other reserves competition not connected at all to the SANFL.

Pretty much what I reckon, Ecky.
Although, if there has to be SA AFL reserves sides, I'd rather see them play in a South East Australia Football League featuring along with the AFL aligned VFL clubs.
The champion of that can then play off against the NEAFL champ if they so desire.
Leaves the WA sides in the cold a bit though...

Not having a crack at you but surely you have read the endless pages of threads about the whole AFL players and Reserves teams in our comp topics and what the SANFL diehards thik of it. I think you might have been able to work out the intent of the banner from that?

But the banner was the concept of one person taking action, although now embraced by many.
The intent of the original person may well be different to those holding it up.
Every single person in these threads has a different concept of what it means, I reckon.

For some it's no AFL at all, including players, for others it's no AFL reserves side.

That's quite Zen dude.

I think the sign also demonstrates the fear many of us have of the AFL being too influential in whatever decisions are made about the future of the SANFL. We want decisions to be in the best interests of the competition so that it remains healthy and grows if possible, and not just used by the AFL for whatever purpose it likes.

But which one of those messages is the general public meant to take, given not many would have read this thread?
They would all come up with all different interpretations just like everyone on here has a different opinion.

Precisely the point I was trying to make - yes I've read the thread and the debate but to me the banner can be interpreted in many directions and the Banner Men - if questioned by the media - have got to have a consistent strategy worked out.
IF the SANFL goes it alone with no AFL players at all - it will be the 1980s SAFA - another Adelaide suburban comp with no TV coverage that could be gone by 2020. Why pay over $10 to go to SANFL when you could see another suburban comp like the Amateurs or the Southern League for nothing?
If the SANFL Reserves comp has Crows and Port teams in it - those games (which may get covered by ABC or Foxtel) may get bigger crowds than the SANFL League games (which will be without TV coverage) - hence the SANFL League games will look 2nd rate and could be gone by 2020.
If the AFL Reserves teams are in the SANFL League - say Sturt Crows and Power Magpies - they will then be using the proud SANFL comp as a testing ground where results won't matter. Sturt could be leading Norwood by a point at 3/4 time at the Parade and Sturt decide to rest Josh Jenkins who has kicked 9 goals so far for the last quarter to save him for the next week when he's back in the AFL. How long would you go to games week in week out when the result doesn't matter anymore?
If the Crows and Port both vanished overnight now - would the normal South Australian footy fan aged under 30 start following the SANFL? No - they would choose another AFL team to follow and continue to pay scant attention to the SANFL.
It may take a decade but I think the AFL will get its wish of a full scale 18 team nationwide Reserves Comp - the 18 clubs will each have a list of 52 players and the WAFL,SANFL & VFL will go. Sadly they will not be deemed important anymore.
The Foxtel Cup was a chance a few years ago to keep the identity of the State Leagues alive but the attitude of the leading SANFL clubs ("We're here to win SANFL premierships") prevented the Cup of gaining any respect and may have contributed to the decline in state league footy.
I hope I'm wrong - I love Sturt and the SANFL comp.
