Dunno bout the price tag but Ainger can play a bit. Not sure bout the Boyfriend tho. He might not last long running around in the Scooby Doo's

Sorry to burst your bubble but transfer fees do not count in the Salary Cap. And, the transfer fees for Ainger and Carey as worked out by the SANFL points system come in very cheaply I have been told which makes a mockery of the system and our Club isnt happy (as Bunton would know.) Ainger 10 and Carey 5. Although I hate we didn't do more to sign them it is wrong that they are that cheap just because they're from interstate and haven't played in the SANFL comp for long.

Nathan Batsanis is leaving Norwood and returning home to Port Melbourne and his family.

That's a blow for Norwood, I thought he had a great year and was a super pick up. Will give one of the talented lads in the 2's more oportunities now though.

Exactly my thoughts Big Phil we have a lot of young players who are ready to step up plus we have Bryce Campbell to fit back into the mid field.
Loved having Batsy with us this year but maybe he has had a whisper early regarding the draft and I wish him well.

May not either. I think we will be chasing another recruit to fill his shoes especially with the transfer fee we will get for him

Apparently we dont get transfer fee back to the VFL > its one way traffic as I understand it - I was told this by a west official > I hope he was wrong BUT if he isnt and I doubt he is - WHO THE HELL AGREED TO THAT

addendum - the only time it works back in our favour is if a player returns to the VFL still under a playing contract with an sanfl club (This applies to Batsanis and Tippet and others...)

Some interesting lines in that article including:

"Ten of my best mates are from Port Melbourne. It was pretty hard to leave in the first place but a few AFL clubs said to me if I wanted to get another crack I should go over there and see what happens."

That is a pretty good endorsement of the SANFL vs VFL.
