Weekend of June 22/23/24 there is no AFL game in Adelaide.
(Crows @ Etihad v North Melb)
(Power Mid Season Break)

There is a game at the MCG (Twilight Collingwood v West Coast)

So IF it is a Port Melb v South Adel game it
MAY be at the MCG to save Foxtel some set up costs.

Result is probably a better reflection of where the two leagues are at, South being a mid table SANFL side while Williamstown being last years grand finalists played on a ground barely any SA players would have played on before and still won.

If your gonna be in it be there to win it unlike Westies who embarrased their club!

GREAT WORK SOUTH! I hope continue to put your best side on the park and get the results.

I agree - well done South for 2 reasons (1) Taking it seriously as a SANFL rep and flying the flag and (2) Looking at the opponents and playing a full strength (or near close to it) side. South nearly blew it though with poor kicking!

South's colossal return to 'G'

AS SOUTH Adelaide strode on to the MCG in front of barely 500 people last Saturday, the significance of the occasion could easily have been lost on some.

The Panthers were preparing to play the VFL's Williamstown in the Foxtel Cup, a knockout competition for state league clubs which has failed to capture the imagination of the sporting public, particularly in SA.

But for South, the SANFL's second-oldest club, this was a landmark day.

The last time the Panthers appeared at the famed footballing colosseum was 1892.

That year the club, which was in the process of building one of SA football's first dynasties, played a pair of games against Carlton and Melbourne.

It lost to the Demons despite kicking 1.8 to 2.0 because, in those days, the team with the most goals won.

Of course it'll be at the G.

The whole idea of this comp was to utilise the cameras at whatever ground the fox game is, and fill a gap in programing.

Well they were the best of any team in NT, QLD, NSW or ACT last year (Winners of NEAFL comp).

And in the Foxtel Cup last year they were the only side from the "developing states" to push a club from the "elite" (SA, WA, VIC) leagues, when they narrowly lost to East Perth.

Thunder had a few out but then again so did the 'Borough.

I'll say it again 'til I'm blue in the face the QFL and NSWFL sides can't hold a candle to the WAFL, SANFL and VFL sides due to the fact that their bottom tier players (15-22 in any given game) would struggle to play SANFL, VFL and WAFL reserves. Their best players are good no doubt and would be good enough to play League footy but the rest are Amateur level at best.

PS Darren Ewing makes Justin McConnell look like Leigh Ryswck!!!
Let that be a lesson to you Port, no one beats the Bays five times in a row in a GF and gets away with it!!!

Missing a heap of footballers from last season. Nowhere near as dominate this year.

Port Melbourne did win 28 games in a row, and are probably the best team outside of the AFL.

My money is that it will be played at the MCG before the Collingwood and West Coast game which is a twilight game which I think Fox are covering, makes sense. No games in Adelaide that weekend.

RICHMOND, RICHMOND, RICHMOND.

Let that be a lesson to you Sturt. You don't beat Glenelg 3 times in a row in Grand Finals and get away with it.
