The Great Man will be a Professional.
Good call. He's being very diplomatic.

Mickan said he had monthly reviews and what was expected of him was achieved .
Pressured by Cornes about appointing Jack Horan as ressies coach but Metcalf didn't want him really put Mickan on the back foot and allegedly Mickan resigned but he denied that but it certainly sounds like he did at that time. Cornes also asked who sacked Jack Horan but Mickan dodged that question so it sounds like he was sacked .
Some innuendo by the sounds of it around behaviour and a drinking culture with the players so this could also be an issue but loved Cornes comment "I suppose you can control that with the players but maybe not those above you at the club" . Interesting comment.
Certainly would have been a lot of pressure having to face a review panel which IMO is a joke .
I must say he is a poor communicator and that would have been tough for the players over a time but seems to have made the changes required of him yet still got sacked.
Cornes did a fantastic job in this interview IMO.
Metcalf seems to have his own way and that if you don't toe that line you're gone.

Losing coach Mark Mickan came in (as I believe is the tradition) and addressed the players, coaching staff, officials and supporters. He was very gracious, honest and chose his words well - I will always remember that and I applaud him for it.
I'm disappointed to see him sacked but can understand the reasoning behind it.

Whoops you're right BP - we win so many these days it's sometimes hard to keep track of who we beat in which year!Big Phil wrote:Agreed with the comments re Mickan in the Dogs room post GF mate, I was lucky enough to be in there as well and thought Rubbers handled himself very nicely on that occassion.fish wrote:I was in the Centrals changerooms after the 2007 Grand Final win against Glenelg. But fish, it was 2008 against the Bays mate, in 2007 it was Jars' Roosters.

A coach did get sacked because of us though.
You can't deny that.
