And about time the best player in the comp got some official recognition.
Strange that you would site the Centrals players who were all a bit down on the day. Neither of the Gowans had a huge impact, both did look slow and got caught with the ball, whilst still being handy when in space. Sansbury was very quiet I thought, but the few disposals he had were quite telling. Similarly, Havelberg and O'Hara were quiet, Buckets didn't have a huge influence in ruck over the course of the game despite the stats, nor around the ground (zero marks).
Spurr, Callinan and Goodrem were the stand outs. Thomas was solid. Lawry was good in the second half , as was Hayes. But I wouldn't call it a 'rounded' team effort, all played well etc..well not by Central's standards.

Almost exactly how I saw it, and as I mentioned earlier I thought it wasnt your true Centrals "team" performance, maybe Norwood were able to break it down a bit so some credit should go to them. I thought Sansbury was carrying a few extra pounds and while Boyd is a good player he missed a few tackles in the first half which suprised me.
CD got the win and congrats to them but I dont think it was the well oiled machine we have seen in previous GF's.

As far as the stereotypical comments about your supporters, I can't complain, the only thing is the bloody flares and I know that many of you have issues with them too. Dangerous, stupid and innappropriate.
I am looking forward to a number of good close battles again in the coming season, bring on 2011.

Nup! But who cares!!![]()
In all honesty, despite the result, that game had everything!! An awesome display of hard, physical, fair football by the two best sides of the year.

Congratulations Bulldogs - thoroughly deserved once again. 11 consecutive Grand Finals and 4 consecutive premierships and 9 in total. I'm stll proud to be an Eagle though as we're the last team to beat them in a premiership decider.
To quote Bea Smith after she desposed of Franky Doyle
'Alright, who's next?'
(I'd put a youtube clip up but it's followed by a Lynne Warner scream, and I don't think anyone should be made to endure that)

A mate of mine played his first few league games alongside Bassett in the backlines and said that he was a fantastic leader for the younger players/defenders in particular, and its no suprise to him that he has got the respect and results from a young list. He also said he has one of the best footy brains going around.
Bass would provide constant instruction to the players throughout the game and was always encouraging. You knew you didnt do the right thing or put you head over it when he told you, when he told you you needed to lift you listened. You saw that with with his address to young Shenton a few weeks ago after he dropped a low down chest mark and a goal was scored from the turnover. He said ' Shents youve gotta grab those marks, thats why i pick you, you can take them, thats what you gotta give us up forward.... go again'
I can see what my mate is talking about and from Bass carrer you could see he wasnt the most skilled player but he always got in the right spot and got the most out of his ability.
It wont be long before he is in the AFL coaching system thats for sure

Has the look of the old class war ... established Eastern Suburbs v the expanding outer North.
Centrals v Eagles had this potential for a while except the pain was been mainly one sided (bar 2006).
Now if Norwood reversed the GF result in 2011 watch out.
