Like they did with South Adelaide?

I'm not sure what you mean.

1900

Personally I don't think Golden Grove or Tea Tree Gully should be Norwood's area anyway, they've got most of the Eastern suburbs unlike the Bays, Eagles, West and Port who have to share the Western suburbs.
Give it to North as most of the people out there that I know are North fans or make a new team.
I don't think its growing as much as other areas though, there's only so far you can go that side of town.

I can only see a 10th team in the metro area diluting the standard of the competition. I know others will have a ready made fact sheet stating that this is not the case, but it's only my opinion.

Any of the top 3 SANFL sides would smash Subi.
It's all the SANFL's fault.

Spot on Smithy. Beats me why these North fans would want to talk their own team down like that.

South Adelaide have ended up with the biggest geographic spread since the southern areas have expanded in the last 20 years

There must be room there also?

The inner-city ring on the Western side seems very wrong in hindsight - I live close to Anzac Highway and am 10 mins drive from Thebarton, Woodville, Richmond and Glenelg ovals. Seems all way too close. Good thing W-WT merged IMO. It would be great to see some SANFL in the North-Eastern suburbs, even if it's just Norwood or North playing games up there. Take the game to the supporters.

It was just going back to the original set up anyway. Was it not Norwood who had the final vote to bring Woodville in and they did it to spite Torrens and Port (who were both strong clubs at that time) after originally saying they wouldn't vote for?

Back to topic, aren't North playing one of the WAFL sides in South Africa at the end of the year?

The proposed North vs. Subiaco game has been put on hold. Subiaco are still going in November I believe but North wanted a pre-season game in March where he behaviours etc of the players could be monitored and use it as part of a pre-season build up not an end of season junket where the players wouldn't take it as seriously and there would be no rules to hang over them in terms of fitness, alscohol intake etc etc. Subi wanted November so it has ben shelved at this stage.

Dan The Man wrote:The SANFL faces the same problem with local populations booming in the North Eastern Suburbs and Mt Barker and the Hills region where there is currently a black hole in relation to SANFL football.

Norwood Oval, Prospect Oval, Woodville Oval. Thebarton Oval, Unley Oval, Richmond Oval all form a ring close to the city, for some of those clubs the location of their ground is right on the border of their area allocation, which was fine in the 70's, yet the populations have since moved on and spread into the outer suburbs of those areas.

So what does the SANFL do?

1, Do nothing and watch whilst more and more soccer clubs open up in the area.

Mate I've played for (Hallett) Cove soccer club for the past 21 seasons. 10 or so years ago the were 14 divisions in the ammos (not including reserve teams) now the are 10.

Many clubs who used to field four or five seniour side a week now only put out two or three. We, along with many other clubs also no longer have the demand for juniors.

I'm not having a go, just pointing out that at amatur level at least soccer is struggeling. The kids and youngsters seem to enjoy watching sport but not so many seem to want to put in the effort to play :? The players at the mojority of the clubs are getting on and are not being replaced with kids. This is to some degree masking the participation problem which will come to a head within 2 - 5 years as us oldins give it away.

Cheers

Here seemed as good a place as any to post this.
Has anyone seen that West Perth have managed a clean sweep in defeating all other clubs so far this year ?
If what I have been reading is correct, they have done it despite injuries to a number of their players.
Still early days, but augers well for Falcon supporters.

I'd like to see a WAFL thread somewhere here, where perhaps those blokes in WA can give us updates from time to time.

Perth actually pushed West Perth on the weekend but we're getting the old "just polish the cup and send it to Joondalup" crap already. Worked real well for Claremont last year ;)

Sorry mate they have been called the Falcons for over 30 years now.

But agree would like to see a WA thread as well as being able to put our allegiance on our profile.

How about it Mods we can do AFL, SANFL and our home club ties.
Would love to put my WAFL team up there. :D :D :D

Let that be a lesson to you Sturt. You don't beat Glenelg 3 times in a row in Grand Finals and get away with it.
