CP , just on your Wedgie example - wouldn't Wedgie be tied to South too ? or is there an age when if you have not played for a club you are a free agent ?

LOL Oh yeah  Sorry, I meant if Michal's dad was a longtime North fan and brought his son up that way, what then? Ie, if Wedgie's lads are in the South zone, could the Roosters name Wedgie for the 1 game then claim his sons under F/S?

Yeah, they could play him up front. With his scoring record of 1 goal 12 behinds he would fit right in

Yeah fair call Les, I'd only thought of that the other day myself ... Although, without knowing the rules, perhaps he could be tied to the zone in which he resided when he was 15 (or whatever the commencement point is)?

Certainly the Obst family has known for a couple of generations.

Peter and Trevor Obst were residentially tied to Torrens, but were able to play for Port because their father Ken had been a Port player.

Then Andrew was able to play for Port even though he was tied to Woodville because his father Peter was a former Port player.

Not a bad dynsaty. The Gallagher's at Norwood would have a similar record. I would have thought from Phil onward they would have been tied to Glenelg residentially but all ended up at Norwood because of the father/son rule.

For your information : The SANFL "Father Son" rule is as follows : IF a player has played ONE (1) league game for any SANFL Club his son (no matter where he is living ) can play for that CLUB. (IF in the case of the Father playing for more than one Club -- the son can choose any 1 of those Clubs-- eg Leon Twelftree who played for both Woodville and Glenelg) -- AS for Officials?? IF you ARE a Club LIFE Member (ie with in excess of 10 yrs voluntary service AND you are granted LIFE Membership for that Club )-- YOUR son CAN play for that Club -- without a clearance.

When I was playing footy in the hills i was bound to norwood if i Lived in Gumeracha I played there. But i lived in Richmond which was Westies territory I couldn't get a game for Westies as Peter Meuret was coach at the time and he didn't like me. Norwood looked at me but Westies told them i was a required player for Westies.
