9.18 to 7.9..could/should have been a 6+ goal win for South really. As mentioned above, they appeared to 'want it more' than the Eagles and looked in control for most of the contest. Some of the running/link-up handball was good to watch.

The past four occasions that South have missed finals they've finished 6th.

In South's defense, they lost a lot of good players over the summer.

Beaut day at Noarlunga weather-wise, South all over us, WWT quite flat, good reception for Redden - been great for us, not least in the GF last year. 2023 will be a challenge for us, but the past two years has been a great ride. We have only missed the finals a few times since 93, so the next phase will be interesting.

Small footnote, given the dead rubber status of the game, much of it was played with 36 players inside the front or back 50 - disappointing but not surprising - robotic footy, my remedy is not original - ban the interchange full stop - will never happen of course.

Yep, as I mentioned in a match thread a few weeks ago many South games have been rather dour this season, despite the tight margins.

Only once since R3 did we kick in excess of 11 goals (Round 8 v West). May have been one factor (of many) as to why home match attendances plummeted around 30% this year compared to 2021.

Probably better placed in the West thread...

No need. Contract will expire shortly.

They asked him to go 6 weeks ago but he stayed as they did not want to pay him out.
