I was at oval ave yesterday . I thought Sturt being number 1 they would be so good so hard to beat .
Round one Unley oval Sturt could not beat the Eagles .
Honestly as an Eagles fan I was waiting for that Sturt team to run over the top .
Sitting on the outer pregame I've seen clubs doing different things in warm ups including running on the grass mounds .
I saw what Sturt where training in doing for being in packs rather than mark Tap the ball down . And I saw Sturt do this in the game .

Personally I think Eagles had nothing to loose they'd still be second if they lost .
Eagles took this game like a grand final IMHO that's what it appeared from the outer .
Aingers 100th SANFL game he's been down in form and injury . Talk about ready for a big game the impossible marks were back and he took them .
Honestly how do you stand in a pack of three Sturt defenders and take the ball on your chest I don't know how you do it but he did ,
Along with the high flying marks .
And yes the Sturt faithful served it upto Wundke pies pies pies.
When Wundke Ainger Macgregor were held up Redden and Bomber took huge pack marks .
Thus showing sturts backline is way too short .
I still think at times Eagles goal shots were off but hell they kept running and running .
They tackled pressured Sturt .
And two ruckman must hinder the other team with only the one big man .
Honestly I thought Sturt were better than the Eagles before the game I hoped the Eagles would win didn't think they could just hoped .
eagles have beaten Sturt twice this year at Unley and Woodville
All I can say is bring on Adelaide oval cause the Eagles can run in small Unley oval they can run on the bigger woody oval I sure hope they can run on Adelaide oval
The eagle is coming

Love Marty Mattner's statement in the Sunday mail

“I was disappointed with the first quarter, when you are behind the eight ball against a team like that it is hard,” Double Blues coach Marty Mattner said.
“Our pressure was good early but we could not convert on the scoreboard.”

They scored 1.0 straight in the fist quarter and 7.3 full time. I don't think conversion was the issue.

Certainly a comprehensive win by the Eagles yesterday. Listened to most of the game and it sounded like they outplayed Sturt in every facit of the game. I would make just one point though; this time last year and even later, it seemed that the Eagles were storming to a flag; they appeared to be well in front of the rest of the comp. that did not end well. No question they are once again premiership favourites and will now very likely win the minor premiership, but finals can be a different story as last year showed.

I think the Eagles have better depth this season. Losing Borholm, Rowntree and Poole in the Semi-Final decimated them. They've added Redden and O'Brien to that mix.

A similar disaster with injury could stop the Eagles. If the Crows go deep in to AFL finals and don't lose many to injury, that could play havoc too. Otherwise, load up on the Eagles to win the flag.

Due to my injury any memories of 2015 are gone so I don't recall any of the wins or GF loss
Did the Eagles win how many games in a row last year pre the finals
Eagles needed that loss to Port
Last year Eagles had one league ruckman
From what I'm reading Eagles lost Rowntree Poole and Bomber pre the GF

I think recruiting O'Brien and bringing Redden home have lifted the Eagles
Hayes came home from Brisbane last year he took some great marks yesterday
And youngster Gaffney ran and ran yesterday showed he can play in the big Legue

And Rowntree has been in the seconds the last three games
Fingers crossed for the finals

Well sorry I know the Eagles don't have a huge following but when Sturt win games the band wagon comes out .
I've been to Unley when Sturt are not winning there's no crowd but win games and they come out the woodwork .
Eagles only have 2000 members there about win or not ,
And the Sturt mouths come out at games
Yet not winning games as you have done in years the same people are not there
And you can see at Unley the huge numbers on the hill don't win and it's just the cheer squad behind the goals

No offence to Sturt but win or not you go to follow them
I've seen games in the 70s my team kicked one goal to 30

Aerie, I just typed up a huge reply to this, then the internet got disconnected and I lost it all.
Anyway, I agree with your assessment, but I can't be buggered re-typing all the reasons why. Just I think you are spot on the money.
Do you know the crowd figure? I was expecting a big turn out, but couldn't make the game myself.

Sounds like you have a beef with Sturt supporters on facebook. It's a bit hard to know the context when you bring it to this website. I haven't read any Sturt supporters mouthing off here.

True that's why I said no offence to Sturt
There's been some on the face book page
Guess there's everyone's fans like that
And when you loose you gotta put up with the come backs

Yesterday's pies being yelled at Wundke didn't help Sturt
Nor did the cheer squad I can't recall the fast food outlet they were yelling out

Guess that's something Wundke puts up with and so should Sturt .

To me the amount of goals he kicks I'll buy him a pie

Think you may find the book makers had Sturt as favourites yesterday .
And many fans at the ground for Sturt thought they were favourites .

So I take it you were at the game the Sturt player from the seconds and the league player both taken off on stretchers any news on injuries

But if you weren't there you might not have known that
