When I mentioned no AFL finals just 18 games for them and their done he just smiled knowingly![]()
[b]Double points for a SANFL club winning against them is the way to fire things up though!

Sam Gray is both undroppable, and has already guaranteed himself at least another year on Port's AFL list, in his current form. So it will be interesting to see if he comes down with 'general soreness' for Port's meaningless last-round AFL match. Because, by not playing footy at all that weekend, he'd qualify for the (2nd and subsequent weeks of) SANFL finals (Port's SANFL QF final will be on the same weekend as the last round of AFL H&A). Play 2 more matches of AFL this year, and (as I understand the rules) he's disqualified. Howls of outrage that they're cynically playing the system, would never stop the Port Adelaide that I know.

Pretty sure that rule was removed last year.

So Summerton won't be playing for Magpies next year?

From this media statement http://www.sanfl.com.au/news/sanfl_news/2651/
1. To be eligible for inclusion on the PAMFC or AFC Supplementary List, a person must be under the age of 23 before January 1 the year in which the player is included on the Supplementary List. A player may play as a top-up player past the age of 23 as long as he is first listed prior to the age of 23. Adelaide and Port Adelaide will be able to retain current contracted players already over the age of 23.
2. PAMFC & AFC cannot contract players for more than one year. This will not impact on current players contracted for more than one season.
3. Players included on the list of AFC or PAMFC cannot be recruited from outside of South Australia. This rule will not be retrospective, allowing those already contracted to Adelaide and Port to continue playing next year.
4. Remove the option for AFC to source top-up players from SANFL clubs. From 2015, Adelaide won’t include players from rival SANFL clubs, with all top-up players to be recruited from Community Football clubs.
My interpretation of this is that new recruits must be under 23, on a 1 year contract, but that contract can be renewed annually. I'm assuming the 28+ leadership player allowance is gone.
I would think that the likelihood of multiple players renewing annually for more than, say 3 years, is pretty low. They can only earn $400 per league game ($100 for Academy/reserves). The likes of Sawford, T. Gray, Masters, Sharrad, etc should have a few offers from other clubs on their respective tables at seasons end.
