Closest situation would be Gary MacIntosh. Could've played AFL but chose to remain loyal to the SANFL.

Wedgie, any thoughts on whether Macca was the sharpest tool in the shed or not, or how about Michael Aish? Both dodged the bright lights of the AFL.
Only your twisted logic would deduce the idea that he's hoping to join a non-existent AFL club from the previous post which outlined his view of the options that he didn't want to move interstate and that he's not interested in the local clubs.

I can't fathom Joshy's non-desire to play at AFL level but...last year he was playing ammos. The prospect of that sudden leap would daunt some kids.
He hasn't even been selected in any state junior squads in the past. AFL probably hasn't been on his radar.

Aish and Macca didn't want t play for an interstate club so they didn't play for an interstate club.
Quite smart really.

And that is different from the conundrum Josh is considering, how?

Nup, never. Would be stupid even considering it if I did.

Because he's considering joining one of 18 clubs despite not wanting to join one of 18 clubs.
Itd be like me considering moving to the US but not wanting to live in any of their 50 states, 16 territories, their federal district or any of their various overseas extraterritorial jurisdictions. It'd be retarded.

What does Glenn do for a crust? If he's got a good job/job prospects I could understand his lack of enthusiasm for the big league. However, a decent AFL player will earn enough to set themselves up for life over just a few years.

And here is the polar opposite to Ashton Hams

No way is it polar opposite...

Nutta is just thinking of his family and financial security...

He stewed on the decision for a while and may not play against the Dogs...

I understand why he took the position but u can't argue it's not the complete opposite Ashley Hams.

Gary Macintosh clearly not in the same postcode as any shed with tools in it. I ran a Kensington Rd deli many years ago, he couldn't fill out a X-lotto entry despite the instructions being plainly written on it.

It is not complete opposite...

Different circumstances for one, in that Hams was still on an AFL list and hadn't been delisted like Callinan...

If I were in Nutta's shoes, I would have made the same decision as he did...

One turns down money and opportunity to play for their local club and the other turns down their local club for money and opportunity and yet somehow this is not the total opposite? Sorry Phil, but the same decision met with the opposite decision. I've no issue with either. They make their decision based on what matters to them and nobody else.

Centrals Josh Glenn this year still deciding whether to enter draft.

Doesnt want to move interstate has no interest playing for a local club./

If he doesn't want to play for the 2 teams here and the 16 teams interstate I could go out and a limb and tell the lad maybe the AFL isn't for him?
Not the sharpest tool in the shed I take it?

That comment suggests the only person not terribly sharp is the author. Plenty of people work in a job they don't like, or for an employer they don't like, or in a place they don't like. Is it not hard to see the ability to set himself up for a long time holds some temptation while being able to stay local and enjoy his footy more might hold another temptation? If a decision with such obvious merits on both sides is too difficult to comprehend for an observer, I suggest looking inward before casting aspersions on others.

Dont have an issue if guys dont want to play AFL, some people just want to play the game for fun and have a few beers with their mates rather than train 6 days a week and be subjected to drug and alcohol testing all the time.
