Its 32 in AFL
Fletcher has 18 games

I think I read the other day Dustin Fletcher is the most suspended player in VFL/AFL history, I suppose that can go with the fact he's played for 21 years or something.

Pretty sure Dermie holds the record, with Plugger and Rhys-Jones not far behind. Justin Charles got 22 games I think for PED use.

Not total games, most times found guilty, 16 and has been suspended 12 times.

Got ya. Fletch has never done anything really bad if suspended 12 times for 20 games.

Still in shock on hearing this. Whatever your thoughts on the player, it's an unbelievably harsh penalty on the team, being one of our best players, and IMO the best ruckman in the league. They surely can't have pleaded guilty if they'd known he'd be deregistered. No matter what your thoughts are on Craig Parry, 16 wks suspension in my view doesn't merit a lifetime ban. Why on earth is it 16 in the SANFL if it's 32 in the AFL?

To my mind the Eagles not having a quality 2nd ruckman qualifies as exceptional circumstances

Stupid act by Parry

BUT

I think it is ridiculous that a player can be deregistered based on a minor act. Fair enough if he king hit the player causing them substantial damage. But by all reports it was a very minor incident worthy or 1 game at most.

Every reportable incident should be taken in isolation from each event otherwise you start getting subjective and overcomplicating things. This is just one of the reasons the AFL is comletely stuffed with their 'points system'.

what this does is penalise players who NEVER learn... next you'll be saying that he's the real victim here?

"Harsh penalty" - that's the whole idea.
"One of your better players, and maybe best ruckman in the league" - irrelevant.
