The AFC is on record as never caring for negatives for SANFL. AFC works for AFC does it not $ UK fan.

I would like to understand the benefit to Centrals of Patrick Dangerfield turning up to a school with Luke Habel to run a clinic in Centrals zone. Surely this would see Luke fade into the background whilst Patrick is the centre of attention?

Does AFC actually believe promotion by association will be good in the long term for SANFL clubs?

Does AFC concede that this may be detrimental to the growth of a SANFL club supporter base?

We will need top up players at some stage and by attending junior development at schools we will be able to cherry pick juniors out of the system a lot quicker. Advantage being technically no SANFL junior will play against there SANFL club because we would of picked out the best talent out of sanfl clubs earlier.

It's win/win

Is the sanfl negotiating a Westpac loan on the crows behalf as per an earlier article in the advertiser? So the strategy is to change the status quo and enter a teserves team that you can't afford for potentially no benefit? Have you determined the cost of entering a reserves team and is it in excess of $500,000?

Pretty much!!! We ain't got nothing but scare tactics and bluffing but our research has revealed its worked well for the last 22 years |}

We were very concious when going into this that SANFL clubs refused to compete in foxtel cup due to the prizemoney only being 40k€That's why we squeezed a bit more out of westpac and now we can comfortably afford to offer $50k and heaps of other things I can't recall right now#scatterbrain

1. do you believe the whole integrity and future of the SANFL comp should be put at risk (it is undeniable there is an element of risk to the move) for potentially no more than 5-10 blokes a week to play together. In the business world would you take such a risk for such a minority

2. If the SANFL ended up like the current VFL would you consider the Crows experiment to be a fail for the competition.

1. Integrity of SANFL is not our concern at this stage @

2. All Depends on if AFC crowds increase or not (?)

Hi David,
You acknowledge that at this point the SANFL is not growing.
You acknowledge that Adelaides reserves may take supporters away from an SANFL club to follow the Crows.
You somehow then from that gather crowd numbers will increase, when in reality it may simply be a shift from one SANFL club to Adelaide.
As part of your "market research" contemplated the following :
How many people will be lost to the SANFL as a result of an Adelaide reserves team being introduced and if so how does this compare to the numbers you "believe" will, for the first time ever, start going to SANFL games?

At this point when Adelaide play away at AFL level there would be Adelaide supporters go to an SANFL game to watch their club, be it Glenelg, Sturt or the Magpies.

By them now attending an Adelaide reserves game this has not increased numbers but simply shifted them.

So the only way crowds can increase is to attract new people to attend SANFL games and this is most likely every second week as, previously noted it would be of Adelaides preference to have the reserves play at the same time or as close as possible to the AFL side. Simple. Adelaide fans cant be in two places at once.

With Adelaides fan base having a large percentage of older patrons (dont deny that) it is unlikely the aged will have either the cash resources or the interest in attending two games in one weekend.

I, along with many others cant for one minute understand how the figure of 4000+ has been arrived at.

Is it possible for you to detail the process Adelaide FC went through to arrive at this figure.

Yeah but Adelaide might make more money and we are risking nothing so might aswell give it a go we feel¥

I don't know how we came up with the 4000 figure. Do you ???7&

See its not just Adelaide who doesn't know so its a moot point IMHO@UK fAn ;

11 guys up to league standard
4 or 5 guys who currently aren't (youngsters/rookies etc),
1 bloke over the age of 28 with bung knees,
and 5 or 6 rings in from wherever you can find them.
In other words close to half the team would be getting a league game who aren't up to the current standard.

So anyway, to my question..Trigg has mentioned that one of the benefits of your proposal is that it "adds to the status of the competition". Perhaps you could explain his statement a little more clearly for me?

Sorry to clog the thread up by rehashing previous posts, but I'm genuinely curious as to what Trigg had in mind when he mentioned that an AFC reserves team will "add to the status of the comp", especially when on average half the team wont be up to league standard and it is very debatable as to whether or not people will turn up to watch these players.

Can you please shed some light on Trigg's comment David?

He means the crows will be in the SANFL making it automatically a better comp for crows fans. Der!!

Just wondering. Do you still think it was a good idea to come on here and field questions?

I've had some doubts. But yes, I've tried.

Remember, I run a website with 60,000 unique visitors each week, a Facebook page with 107,000 fans, a Twitter account with 34,000 followers and a stack of trolls, and we have a membership of 47,000. So you get used to different views.

Collingwood has 60,000+ members
Essendon has 58,000 members
Yet when they play each other in Reserves they cant attract 2000 people
Why is this?

They aren't crows fans would be my guess jimbo*^%

If you take crows players out of SANFL statistics show crows fans over 60 would we think you are irrelevant > we think you SANFL fans are being pretty selfish on this one;UK Fan$

If this is club sanctioned can I ask who advised this to be undertaken?

I'm surprised you guys haven't worked it out yet - how can we be the "team for all South Australians" when so many of you are currently attending SANFL games and our AFL attendances are dropping? By entering a reserves team, the passionate SANFL fans will boycott the comp, and we'll bribe the less passionate ones to our games with free entry. They will then trash the "SANFL brand" by saying there is no atmosphere at games (I wonder why...) and when we p.ss off to the new AFL reserves comp in 5 years time, there will be no fans left watching the SANFL, and Triggy's KPI to increase our market share in SA will be met, at the expense of you guys!
So far it is working beautifully. We conned the SANFL Commission years ago, the directors are falling faster and for less money than we ever thought, and David is doing a great job at p.ssing off you guys even more (so your boycott is assured). Hooray!

Hi!, just a quick question for you David,

I've been to every Crows home match since 1990 and haven't been to any SANFL matches since then (I used to be a Tigers supporter) and I was just wondering will the AFC be handing out any SANFL rule books to Crows members when we join the SANFL???

Since the AFC is a dead certainty to join the SANFL league next year (Triggy assured me this personally!), I watched the North Adelaide versus Sturt match from the safety of my lounge on the ABC and I was aghast at how different the game of SANFL is to AFL. The SANFL is caveman football, it's that primitive! I was shocked when a North Adelaide player hip and shouldered a Sturt player and the umpire yelled out "play on, wasn't high!" (that player would of gotten atleast a month for it if this was an AFL match!). Another time a Sturt player picked up a loose ball and was tackled immediately and I nearly choked on a piece of lamington when the umpire called for a ball up instead of holding the ball!
