What would you do in 2014?

Strongly Increase your attendence at the SANFL, I would go to the majority of games involving Port or Crows.

6%
Slightly increase your attendence of the SANFL, I would have slightly more interest in attending games.
3

Stay the same, nothing would change to my SANFL attendence

30%
Slightly decrease means you would go to a few less games each year and think twice about renewing your membership (but might still do it)

18%
Strongly decrease means you would go from being a member/volunteer and attending most games to only going once or twice a year, for example.

Wouldn't attend games at all and wouldn't renew my membership

Those people that say they would continue to attend SANFL games no matter what, it is very noble and I admire your loyalty. But are you going to maintain your interest when your team is basically playing an exhibition game every week? Because this is basically what we are talking about here. The SANFl premiership would no longer mean anything. Personally Iw ould rather see Norwood drop down to amateur league.

As i posted on the redlegs forum I find this whole concept completely ridicolous. Is there any legit sporting comp in the world - perhaps outside the WAFL - that has clubs in it with different agendas? ie one competing for the premiership and others playing to develop players? If there is a precedent i would like to know about it. I have never heard of anything like is currently being proposed.

It has made me raise a brow to how flippant some people have been when commenting on their intent to simply walk away. If they choose to then it's up to them, but I dont know it would be as easy to do as it is to type it out.

I take umbridge to someone telling me how I should choose to support (or not) my club.

i understand the disdain for the AFL clubs having Feeder teams in the SANFL league comp. But i Honestly cannot wrap my head around any true SANFL supporter saying that "after 40 odd years of being a paid up member of my club, I'm out"

Thankfully Norwood through Joe Tripodi have made their stance clear so it is clearer for me, but no matter who they are playing ill continue to support MY team. If you feel differently i honestly feel sorry for you. I Support Norwood NOT the competition, however much they try and change it!

But that's already what happened for many people in 1990-91. I'm sure all of us (who are old enough) know examples of people who were fanatical about their SANFL club before 1990 but have hardly been to a game since.

Bottom Line :

It's not the SANFL anymore. :(

It has forgotten basic footy for the masses and gone for the $$$.

Who cares about the AFL.

I'm going back to suburban footy.

That's a name I have not heard for a while..?

Go Salisbury West and Seaton Ramblers and Wingfield United. :D

That's three battler clubs. :D

Give it one year and then probably walk away from all football for good. Follow the soccer and go surfing. F*** 'em.

I wanted to vote for "I will never - NEVER - attend a game featuring an AFL reserves team". The closest option was to decrease support slightly.

... and in 1996. I knew plenty of Porties who vowed and declared that they'd keep going to Magpies matches after the AFL team kicked off. History shows that plenty of 'em didn't. The "one club" wank didn't bring them back to games either.

No it wouldn't be easy but nor would it be easy watching Port in the SANFL knowing that these c***s f***ed it up for everyone else.

Im gonna shoot straight from the hip and say exactly what I really think. I support a club, not a competition. I go to the football and pay my membership to watch my club play football. The club happens to play in the SANFL. I like the SANFL and have an affinity towards it, I grew up watching it, im been to probably 400 SANFL games in my life. But, if Port started playing in the Div 6 amateurs tomorrow, that's where ill be. Because I support a club. Not a competition.

People prepared to throw away decades of support because their club may have to play the Adelaide Crows twice a year is baffling to me.

People saying that the SANFL will just become exhibition games and mean nothing are ridiculously over-dramatizing the situation.

People saying that the two AFL clubs wouldn't care about winning matches or wouldn't care about challenging for the premiership are ridiculously over-dramatizing the situation. In my opinion, not much would change at all. I don't see how Adelaide or Port playing AFL reserves in the SANFL will effect peoples enjoyment of a North v West match, or a Sturt v Norwood match, or why they would want to throw away their support, membership and memories of their club.

I can understand people that may boycott games against the two AFL sides and that line of thinking. That makes sense to me. They don't want them in the competition, fine, boycott the games, don't watch them play. But to throw away decades of support and loyalty to their club at the click of the fingers just because for 4 games a year they will have to play an AFL reserves side. I don't understand this at all.

Ever wonder why anyone associated with port has no say on the future on sa football ?????? Read the above garbage.

This from a club that the main cancer on SANFL for the last 5 years has been the refusal from footy fans to have anything to do with port Adelaide. And you want to lay the above tripe on us.

No wonder I will never attend a game again !!
