Despite a less than impressive 3 and half quarters, we were always in the game compared to last week re our effort and intensity. Whilst stats don't always tell the story North had 66 more disposals (kicks 228-182, handballs 117-97), 51 more marks, 9 less tackles, 1 less free (28-27), 2 more hit outs 41-39, 11 more clearances 44-33, 8 more inside 50's 50-42 and 4 more scoring shots!

But for our "burning" of the ball for 3 and half quarters and decision making and West's pressure and tactics we had plenty of it as we did last time we played but this time we won.

15 minutes total of playing our style of game over 4 quarters will not win games week in week out or win a flag but if we play our style for 15 minutes or more every quarter then it will take a very good team to beat us and so far we have beaten all the main candidates to date.

Still along way to go but that result has to give us some confidence, belief and "steely" resolve for the rest of the season knowing we need to put 4 quarters together!

Taken from Dasher's post on the Roost:

In a glowing endorsement of the North Adelaide Football club supporter base, Phil Herden (SANFL radio commentator on RPH Adelaide, Life FM and promoter of the SANFL via various other media outlets), made the following statement live on Adelaide radio after North Adelaide's late rush of goals and resultant victory against West Adelaide at the Prospect Oval today:

"If you ever want to see passion in the SANFL, the Prospect Oval is the place to be."

I have to say to say the reaction after the last goals and when the siren went was the best for as long as I can remember to be honest!

Good crowd today - the best of the Round I believe but that was due to weather Friday night as you would expect on a good night Nwd v. Sturt to easily double North v. West.

It was brilliantly put by Mr Herden and summised the atmosphere to a tee. I got tingles up my arm when Thring kicked that goal and the stand just erupted.

Yes the game was called really well - I stopped working around the house in the last 5 minutes to listen.

I t was a great game to watch by arguably the best 2 teams in the Comp.

I noticed the area where the players and umpires come off the field , near the cricket cub , was roped off.
Ive not noticed this before, is this a recent thing ?

Met his old man after the game, who said there are a few AFL clubs keeping a very clise eye in him.

I don't want to harp on about it, but seriously, the guy can bloody play !!!
Given how few delisted players get a 2nd go around in the AFL: Dan Currie, Sam Rowe, Dean Terlich, Simon Phillips, Jonathan Simpkin (via VFL) and Peter Faulks (via VFL) is a pretty solid shopping list of players who've been on the Sydney Swans list, been delisted, and then played well enough at state league level to get another crack at the AFL. The Swans drill a good work ethic, and team-oriented habits, into their players; and modern AFL list-management means that you need to dump players each year who, if you had larger list sizes, could definitely still make the grade at AFL level. 'Ex-Sydney Swans' is a valuable calling card for anyone shopping themselves to SANFL clubs in the off-season.

Looks like Nathan Gordon could well be joining the ranks of the above blokes, in 2014. Byron Sumner is another ex-Swan who missed out in the 2012 national and rookie drafts but could yet head back to the big dance.

Even after sleeping on yesterday's result, still cant get over it. We just couldnt get our hands on the ball in the last 15 mins of the match.

Could be karma for pinching the win in Round 3 against them

Just watched the replay, love the fact West don't have one player inside their attacking 50 when they're 2 points down late in the last quarter when the balls only 60 metres out from their goal.
