Pretty sad but thats the way we are heading.
Ask any kid what sport they play and most will tell you they play AFL.
This really shits me that hardly anyone refers to it as Aussie Rules anymore

If the AFL want to be on our logo then they should be allowed to - as a sponsorship. $10 million a year should be sufficient.

Ask my son what sport he's playing and he says "Football" and that's what it always will be in this country, easily distinguishable from soccer, rugby league and rugby union.

No he wouldn't. He's actually a huge fan of soccer and refers to it rightfully as soccer.

Its sad that most state leagues have been taken over (basically due to their own mismanagement - the ACTAFL did put up fight though)

Footy has sadly become 'AFL' by default just like that stupid meathead game has become 'NRL'
Everything is branding - sigh. Except heritage round - then its just stupid guernseys!

if our competition has that discusting logo on it, i will not be buying any mechandise that has any connection with that vfl run so called national competition. I will Cherrish what i have and enjoy the past memories. After 15 years as a crows season ticket holder i gave it up in 2007 and have not been to an AWFL game since. The victorians have ruined football in this country.

The Victorians didnt ruin football..... a rather glib interpretation of football's evolution.

As a Port Melbourne supporter I dont particularly like the old VFL but the SANFL & WAFL were no saints. The WAFL clubs were all broke by the 70s and relied on transfer fees to survive. The SANFL was intent on launching the 'half-cocked' NFL night series competition and managed to annoy football's biggest assett by selling the product to C0 - it was doomed to fail as it ensured games would never be played in Melbourne where the money was (as soon as C7 said we will put lights up at VFL Park if you leave the NFL was dead). The VFA was just as dumb by not negotating with Allen Aylett when he made a reasonable offer - instead they went to the AFL begging for money 12 years later.

AFL of course!

Next they will be going through all the pre 1991 video archives and "photoshopping" in AFL logos to the jumpers of all players.

We will not compromise the SANFL competition (with AFL reserves teams)."
