Make the most of it Redlegs fans, you won't have him next year.

Doesnt matter how many games Salopek has played, the fact is he had 9 touches for the night and looked woefully out of touch yet you have guys in your ressies that should be playing ahead of him.
As for Wilson he looks lazy and disinterested half the time and has no second effort. Yes the ball didnt get down there much in the last but at least Harder had go when it did. His stats might not show it but I thought Harder made a contest and had a fair crack even through limited opportunities.

Well it is pretty much fact topsy, no secret that bass will probably be on an afl coaching panel next season. As you eluded to also, norwoods tackling tonight was sensational, played wet weather footy the proper way with being first to the ball and force skill errors. 28 scoring shots to 11 says it all port fans, the umps wouldn't have been able to save that one. We were average tonight.

Yeah you're right, Sal had a great game last week but Tony Bamford should have looked in his crystal ball and said he's only going to have 9 touches tonight, let's put someone else in.

Sometimes stats do tell a story. Port more disposals, many more marks, more tackles, many more clearances and what must be close to an all-time-record hit out count (82). And yet they got smashed on the inside 50s by a margin that was only consistent with a big loss (49-30).

The tells me that they won it out of the contest aided by some dominant rucks, and proceeded to kick it sideways and backwards to unmarked teammates. But eventually they gave it up without actually pressing forward while they had the footy.

Hard at the footy and the contest, and hard tackling, can only get you so far if you don't move the ball towards your goals when you do have it.

LOL at the port supporters complaining about the ups

I thought it was a very even game for 3 qtrs, ports turnovers killed them.
Norwood were a bit more direct & cleaner with the footy and a bit harder.

There is a reason he was playing Ressies at Glenelg.
Going by the abuse your supporters behind the goals were aiming at him im obviously not the only one who thinks he is average.

The free kick count was very one sided, but Norwood won because they are very structured, play their oval very well, played the conditions better than port and used the ball far better. When you smash the opposition in hit outs, clearances, win the disposals and tackles you normally win the game, unless your ball use isn't up to scratch, which it wasn't.

Be interesting to see how many of Port's touches were in their back half, thought they chipped it around and over possessed in their defensive 50 which is usually a Norwood trait. Lost count of the ammount of times Port turned over the ball bringing it back in from a point, and yes with our woeful accuracy we gave them plenty of practice.
Dont think stats mean a lot these days, in the AFL last night Essendon had 3 of the top 5 ball getters but lost by nearly 100 points, its more about what you do with your touches

Summed it up perfectly.

Norwood zoned to perfection which put Port under the pump, more times than not Port pannicked turning the ball over time & time again.
chipping away wide & short all night didn't help, it looked like some were more interested in their stats tally.
Norwood showed how to play wet weather football, they are miles ahead of any team in the comp at present.

Not quite sure whether Bassett being coach is absolutely vital to any Norwood success after this year. His great work has seen plenty of youngsters getting a go (and generally making the grade) in league footy, other grades generally going really well - his legacy is that he has set them up for what should be a period near the top, unless they really f*ck up with a real spud of a coach.

28 shots to 11 and you're blaming the umpires? No problems. ...
It's a hangover from the past when Port got away with all sorts of behind the play maiming because the umpires favoured them.
(Except Ken Cunningham favouring Westies over Port when they played each other.)

Umpire support is part of their history and their supporters whine now when it doesn't happen.. ;)
