Not a given that we will meet each other in finals this year ;)

We will meet in Our 2nd Semi Final. Then you will meet Us again in The Grand Final.

norwood are already in the GF imo, so if they dont play central, good luck getting $1.20.

why tie up money for so long at $1.80?
You could probably find a winner at that price 10 times before then!
And, Premierships are not won in July!

A week ago, many people thought that Norwood would not even beat Central at the Parade. The teams will be very different come finals time, with anything up to eight changes to each team. I really don't think you can back a Grand Final winner safely at this stage. If you based premierships on performances in July, then Central would have won very few in the past 12 years. A football season is a marathon and the only way you win is by judging your run well, as per the Eagles last year.
Additionally, it will be interesting to see how Norwood cope with 20 days without football before the Second Semi Final. I think that this will be the biggest hurdle for them to overcome.
Cheers

Fair call, and obviously I hope you're right mate .. I don't think we're without a chance or anything, but I don't think it's as clear cut as the current W/L might suggest.

At the moment who has qualified or looks likely to play the neccessary games for both the Dogs and Legs from both AFL clubs to play finals ?

NORWOOD ; Renouf, Rodan, Pfeiffer, Thomas- and obviously blokes like Phillips, Brown and Jonas have already qualified.
CENTRALS ; Henderson- and Symes already qualified and very unlikely Callinan any hope.

Anyone else I've missed ?

Renouf hasnt qualified, and doubt he'd be made available even if he did .. Pfeiffer needs another which today looks unlikely but you never know at Alberton, Thomas won't get the remaining games required I don't reckon.

I'd think/hope/pray Callinan next to no chance for the Dogs.

We could easily miss all 3 of Renouf, Pfeiffer, Thomas. Renouf has only played for us twice but because of these crazy schedules apparently he's sitting on 3 games; given his dodgy injury history this year (and lack of prior connection to Norwood) you'd think he'd be no chance of being released and the Pahhhhr will put him straight in cotton-wool at the end of the season even if he did fluke the games. Thomas allegedly has 4 games up in qualification despite only having played for us 3 times. No bad injury history nor anything special to make them want hold him back if he did play for us again in the minor round; no idea whether he'd want to play. Darren Pfeiffer has only 3 games up; you'd think he'd be champing at the bit to play for a successful Norwood side given his history there goes back nearly a decade and you can make a strong case that Bass (or someone associated with the club) persuading him back to Adelaide from Qld at the end of 2010 wound up resurrecting an AFL career that was dead, buried and cremated. But he just seems to be playing too well (in a bad side that has a lot of injuries), and so without a real drop in form he just won't get the games up.

But, on the flipside, a real surprise is that Rodan has qualified. And given his long history of playing for unsuccessful teams (remember his career started at Richmond), plus the 'living the boyhood dream' moment of kicking the winner after the siren when your team's been behind all day-- that he got to do at Richmond recently-- you'd hope that he'd be pretty keen to play.

Anyways, given that we knocked off Centrals with a team including about 7 no-names who've played just a handful of league games between them, we don't want to sweat too much on AFL players' return. A champion team beats a team of champions, and all that.

As far as I can see, Ian Callinan has not kitted up for Centrals a single time this year. So you can put a line through his name. Not so with Brad 'ball magnet' Symes though, who must be the best-performing of the AFL-listed players in the whole SANFL this year. Although Tim McIntyre's been pretty useful when not kicking 1.6, as well.

Although unlikely, Wingnut may still qualify for Central for the finals. With him being out injured at the moment, it is likely he will come back through the Dogs. His form in the last few matches he played for the Crows was not outstanding and they are unlikely to change winning sides very much. Don't rule him out playing the 3 matches he apparently needs to qualify. Btw, I had thought he needed 5 but some wise heads have said he only needs 3. Is he a Senior Rookie or is he a full listed player? Admittedly though, it is not the onball department that Central need to boost their stocks in but the key position players. A lot will depend on whether Obst, Hayes and Menzel return in time for finals. Having Collier and Sibenaler return was useful today. Very low on key position players against Norwood last week. Barmby, Nash and O'Hara would also be useful additions to the team for finals, as could Henderson and Dunne. Cheers

I believe because he started the season as a rookie that he only needs 3. But he's not our player anymore, be disappointed for him if he finishes up playing finals for us.

I think Pfeiffer started the year as a rookie but needs 5 games .. Think they changed the rules this year, but happy to stand corrected .. As you said, not our players and would be folly to plan on having them

Agreed, I would much rather see Wingnut playing finals for the Crows. We have enough quality onballers to cope in September/October. It is our key position players we need covered better.
