Will be a great test for Goddsy. Did very well withe the side he inherited from Fuller, but now he may have to follow what Fuller is doing again and build his own side!

Great win.

Daniel, Watson, Pfeiffer, Taylor....have not been seen much this year but definately made an impact!! Keep it up guys!!

Cross was outstanding. Rolfe looked dangerous all game.

Otten killed Grocke. Redigolo 's game was really pleasing and thought he held up the backlines well. Good to see Crabby back..love his kicks out of full back.

Good to see Wundke with 4 goals come back and make a statement this week.

Reality is ....we need now to win these next 2 games at home (North and Sturt) Totally crucial to our season.

I wonder if we need a "head" doctor to make the guys believe that they can win at home!!

A most pleasing weekend :)
Is out of change.....thanks Cambridge Clarrie!!!

Our leadership group has been very solid for the past decade with the core group of experienced players leading the way. It is now time to hand over the batton to the next group. i would like to see players such as lewis, Rountree, Thompson, Goldsworthy, Raymond and Kane start being initiated/mentored this year in preparation for 2013.
Recruiting some 'gun' onballers will be a priority next year!

Unfortunately the recruiting staff have been negligent in their duty to groom the next batch of midfielders and have been happy to ride on the backs of Cicca/Powell/Treeby etc for far too long. Instead of waiting for them to retire to introduce/recruit the next young gun midfielder, our approach has to wait for them to reach their expiry date before looking for midfielders. Now we are going to have a huge whole which will not be solved any time soon. Fuller's approach to the issue was to recruit 19 year old Victorian midfielders from the U18/VFL and wait a couple of years for them to develop. This approach tends to work in the long run. The sad part is we should have already been grooming these kids we should have recruited a couple of years ago. Because we haven't we have some lean years ahead.

Rowntree is/will a good consistent player but never that top tier midfielder who consistenly gets 25+ possessions each week.
Goldsworth is in the same boat
Kane plays with great heart and desperation but doesn't have the skill to be a top midfielder.
Raymond is not suited as a midfielder.

These guys are not answer. What is your plan Godden?

The Eagles do need to rebuild. They'll need a new leadership group, new midfield etc. That is ok and I would hope that the Eagles admin allow Godden to set in place something that is not a short term fix, but something that sets the Eagles up for the next decade.

The leaders, Macca, Powell, Cica have continued on from Colville, Lindsay etc. and have been brilliant players for the club.

In hindsight we have missed Treeby, Rimington and Allmond more than i thought. They seemed to all have a lot of personality and Treeby in particular would have got the boys going behind the scenes I imagine. It is probably important the club recruits some players with that sort of personality. A club takes all sorts and they need to find the right mix.

It will be a massive challenge for Godden. He has proven he can take a group of good players to the next level. Can he rebuild a club? I have confidence he can given he was with Mickan at Glenelg when he went through a similar thing. The question is also will those players like Lewis, Rowntree, Raymond, Day, Staple etc pull in the same direction and have the strength to see through the next generation?

Patience will be needed. I hope the Eagles begin moving forward soon.
