Can't argue with that. Was very random.........for both sides.

Nope, and when you're as undisciplined, kicking poorly for goal and making as many mistakes as we made, it's a cop out to blame the umps .. The game was there to be won and we didn't deliver, simple as that

Lol sorry mate .. I have concerns about how the umpires are directed (in the 1st quarter the whistle blew and a North bloke I was chatting with and I both said "yeah right let's see which way this will go" neither of us had a clue what it was for) .. But I dislike even more people taking the soft option of blaming a result on umpires .. Never going to improve as a club of we do that.

Not necessarily but all people want is consistancy, nothing is worse than when an ump pays a free and 2 minutes later puts the whistle away for an identical situation.
I stood amongst North supporters today and they were going nuts at the umps all day.
Today just seemed like a lucky dip with even the players sometimes bewildered by the decisions.

Consistency is fine to ask for (pretty rare to get), but asking for even free kick counts always makes me laugh.

Yes missed shots by Stewart and Johnston could have proved costly for North ;)

I'm disappointed too.
While there were some dubious frees - some the other way too - the real problem, from what I saw on the box, was soft tackling, indirectness, too many handballs, and poor kicking.
I had to check I wasn't in a time warp and watching 2008.

We have been like that for 30 years, dont know we are called the Legs because we never use the effin things :(

Bloody Awesome!!

That's 8 good quarters of footy in a row from the Cocks, I can't remember the last time that happened, Norwood weren't that bad, North were just good as well today.

As far as the umps, I thought there were shockers both ways, Norwood were gifted a couple of goals at the Southern end, I was too far away to comment on the Northern end but it sounds like it may have been pretty even. I don't think the result was altered because of poor umpiring.

Well that's what the Roosters play against every week, and even today, there were frees plucked out that gifted Norwood goals, but both teams would have cause to complain about decisions. 60 frees in a game is way too many, and many of those were incorrectly interpreted, and a lot more were not paid. Too many wrong ones picked out and other crucial ones missed, because the umpires are constantly out of position or umpire from too far away or GUESS which was the case in several decisions today.

Blame my mate Santo Caruso for the loss.
He's been going to Adelaide 3 or 4 times a year for the last decade and
has only seen Norwood win 4 or 5 times in that period.
Another jinx.
If one person does it, it's insanity. If millions do it, it's religion.

Disappointing, but sounds like we were pretty ordinary overall (bad kicking is bad football and all that).
Well done to North (I reckon they broke Norwood's unbeaten run in '97 as well).
Truth is it's still a better start to the year than most Norwood supporters were expecting after an ordinary trial game period.
Seems like things were getting stale and a loss was inevitable at some stage against a determined opponent.
Still plenty for Bassett to work on.

Thought he was one of our best, probably had the most clearances for the day and one of the few Norwood players who laid tackles. Not his best day but at least he had a crack unlike plenty of others

Jace Bode what a clown. Cost the legs

Agree Jase Bode has to learn that even though the ump made a bewildering decision that he shouldnt carry on

Batsanis was caught holding the ball twice just prior
Both times he possessed the ball and was tackled almost instantaneously
I cursed at the time, but accept its that stoopid modern day holding the ball ruling the SANFL wants the umps to interpret

That Thiele could receive a handball from the NA champ, turn around take a few steps and get caught, get tackled to the ground by Bode, and not pinged, had me jumping out of my lounge chair today
This was just after the Batsanis decisions

No wonder Bode went ape

Most Football supporters want consistency from the umps

The rest is history, NA went forward and Steward nailed the goal that won it for NA
Those 3 decisions, ruined the contest in my opinion
I would prefer that players to win games of footy, not the umps

PS
If anyone wants to backlash my post
Yes I know Im a NW barracker
But what I see is what I see
