Can't blame Doggies or the Eagles for this one eh? ;)

Whilst driving on my way to Noarlunga I heard on the radio that there were heavy traffic conditions around the Parade so I was expecting to see a crowd of 8000-10000 listed in the newspaper today.

It seems like Norwood are looking good for the minor premiership.

Good post Am Bays.
Norwood's tackling was the difference between the sides causing Glenelg to fumble and turn the ball over in anticipation of a hard body check. The margin flattered Glenelg and they were never at any point in the game with a chance of winning.
You are spot on Am Bays Massie seems to have the right style of play and structures but perhaps lacks the personell right now. Credit to the Bays for their second half but the game was gone by then.
Norwood will not go undefeated and make no mistake ... Centrals ARE the team to beat again. It is May and a long long way to go, things can chage very quickly with injuries and form loss.
Can complain about being undefeated in 3 grades though.

BTW the crowd figures are absolute rubbish ...... there was 7,500+ I don't know where they get the figures from obviously they dont count season ticket holders just purchases at the gate. Andrew Jarman this morning on radio said the same about the numbers.

Norwood far better last night and well played to them.

A good reality check for our blokes.

mpve on to next week for another test (dogs out at Elizabeth) to see where we are at.

Glenelg remind me of the Eagles in 1999, where we were expected to be at the lower end of the table, but ended up losing the Prelim. We too had junior results in previous years, but by 1999 the players, junior and senior, who really wanted to be there were left, and these younger players were the ones who helped establish our club as a strong one over the next decade or went higher, eg Pavlich, Cicca, Shirley, McGregor, Hall and a few others.

My biggest fear for the night was that we wouldn't be "up" for the occasion, but that was allayed about 5 seconds in to the game when it was clear to see that we were up and about.

I don't think it's unfair to label the Bays a "work in progress" and IMHO they look well and truly on the right track, and as per AB's post once they've had more time under Mass and the structure's become ingrained, they will be a serious force.

Gus Lally who is probably our best kick, shanked his first 2 after Norwood points and the writing was on the wall.
Norwood had 3.6 on the board (should have been 6.3) before we went forward - game over.
We were smashed in the clearances (especially in the middle after a goal was scored) and they ran in numbers all night. Glenelg missed targets, handballed to players flat footed and continued to ignore the first option. Norwood are a good 2 seasons ahead of the Bays in development and on field stability which is reflected in their well drilled game plan. Whilst never throwing it in, it was left to too little too often for Glenelg. We get at least 2 more cracks at Norwood this season which I look forward to.

On our clash guernsey - the less said the better. White numbers on yellow???? Obviously the clowns who decide our Olympics uniforms had a week off and spent it at Brighton Rd.
Finally (and this had nothing to do with the outcome) but the umpiring last night was the worst I've seen in 10 years. Inconsistant, confusing and extemely one sided to Norwood. The McGinty mark, jumper grab, arm chop and push (almost all in one) that was so blatant yet ignored in the last qtr capped off a disgraceful night for the umpires. Would've been nice to see how good Norwood are without a good ride. I even had a Norwood mate text me today saying he couldn't remember getting such a great run in recent history. Like I said though it didn't sway the result, we were totally outplayed.

Is it possible that more Central people post on our game than our own fans?

Very disappointed in the lack of spectators in black and gold. Maybe Glenelg supporters are psychic ?
Of the 7500+ would have been 6000 Norwood Supporters.

I thought there was a reasonable contingent of Bays fans down the front of Coopers Hill and then there cheer squad had a few numbers, along with plenty of colour, down the northern end, behind the goals.
