Well Daniel Stewart is booked in for shoulder surgery as well this week so he is an out re finals. Andrew Moore has been ruled out with his hammy and I think Aaron Young is also not available.
Piss weak SANFL and the CLOWNS who run it.

This list from the SANFL shows all who have qualified...

Obviously they need to be released from their respective AFL club first...

That list didn't have Matt Lobbe, I'm certain he has played more than 5 games for West

Yes Blee - I think he is ok to come back and with Stewart missing, Blee's height will be handy up fwd where after an average season in defence he did alright further up the ground however Port have had him back in defence.

Of course we have to make it first!

Yes. Lobbe has 4 seniors and 3 reserves games for West this year. So he obviously qualifies (reserves games count, o' course). Must be a simple oversight.

Anyhoo, unless his hamstring strain magically clears up overnight, the chances of the Pahhhhr releasing him must be close to zero.

Does anyone know if the crows players on sturts list are allowed to play reserves finals for sturt while the crows are still in action?

Brett Ebert did it in his magarey year and did his shoulder from memory. Can't think if it has happened since.

I'm pretty sure Eagles reserves side was stacked with Burton, McGregor and some others back when the Crows were playing finals and the Eagles league weren't playing that weekend. That was a fairly long time ago now obviously. Not sure if rules have changed.

Only a slight strain I believe, he has got this week to get over it

As i posted earlier Peter Rhode has stated that Jonas and Pfeiffer will be going in for surgery but Rodan has been cleared to play for Norwood at this stage

None of North's Port aligned players will be available but Johnston and Craig aligned with the Crows will be.

We received confirmation yesterday from the Power that Blee (back), Young (groin), Stewart (shoulder & hip), Butcher (hip) and Moore (hamstring) won't be available for the rest of the season.
Johnston and Craig are available.

The Power's call but considering Blee played most of year with us as did Young to a degree and Stewart asked to delay his surgery until North's finals were finished then one can only wonder if this is "one club" payback for North being North? In any case this is exactly why the AFL teams should have their own reserves sides in another comp so there can be no "confusion" around availability and the intent re no availability.

This part of the season is a stinker with AFL players being processed for the SANFL finals
The he can and he cant play bullshit is about to start

The Power have missed the AFL finals
The clubs image is at stake
By not releasing players back to the SANFL they will cop some backwash from some of the non Port Adelaide SANFL supPORTers
I think its in Port Powers best interests to align these players, by not , then they lose the support of at least one person in the galaxy, that being me

On the Rails mentions it
It gets mentioned by so many supporters at ALL of the clubs

This mystery about surgical operations is baffling in some instances
When either Power or Crows are out of the AFL Finals some players need operations, and will not be released to the SANFL
But for whatever reason, the same guys dont need operations when the Power/Crows are still progressing into the AFL finals

Its seems very convenient for the Power/Crows players during the Minor round season to drop back to a SANFL league or an unaligned SANFL reserves team
Yes these players are often enough sent back to the SANFL to recapture form , or to be rehabilitated in matches after AFL injuries to the SANFL clubs
But those same players go missing for whatever reasons finals time in the SANFL

A few posters invariably come up with , Mal these are the AFL clubs players, the AFL can do what they choose
Thats true, yeah
But my point is they USE the SANFL to play some of their players into form and fitness during the season
There4 they should cut some slack at this time of year

Basically Im sick of this LOTTERY that comes up every year

These players are contracted to play AFL not SANFL... If an SANFL club wants to pay the players contract for them to play for them in finals then go ahead.

Also opens up a can of worms for the AFL should they get injured and miss a year with a knee recon for example - or miss 70% of the preseason... should the SANFL pay out the players contract?

It will be interesting if the Magpies were to make it, what players get released.

AFL players games qualified

Postby RustyCage » Wed Sep 05, 2012 1:56 pm

Doubt sal or Mitch would be released to the magpies. Even though they don't seem to be a part of the Powers plans going forward, the club wouldn't want them to get injured and risk another club picking them up
