He wasn't great in my opinion... Didn't seem to dominate the middle like I had expected him to. Some of the Port players were treating him as a bit of a NFL punter when they were kicking with the wind. Must admit he does have a booming (though usually mongrel) kick on him.

Don't get me wrong, I don't think he's playing to a strength he could if he were in better shape (his athelicism and speed for a big bloke), but I thought some of his ruckwork and around ground play (dishing off the handball and roadblocking) was pretty decent .. Maybe the %40-%50 of the game I saw included his better bits (or maybe Im just a shit judge lol).

I liked what Neil Cross said something like to watch the replay or the VFL & WAFL games also at those hours but different days obviously, you need to be pretty enthusiastic or just record them. At least they're showing replays and the two other major state leagues now.

I watched the game up until the Crows game started and thought it was a cracker, really entertaining.

A really important and gutsy win from Sturt today... I wasn't expecting to get thrashed, but I was expecting to lose, as I thought Port would just have too much talent and consistency around the ground for us to win in our opening game.

That said, Sturt played well enough for most of the game to win. I was a bit disappointed with out second term, where we just couldn't get hold of the ball and the first half of the last term, where again we went missing for a while.

But Kudos to Maloney and the team, they fired up for 10 minutes, slotted home three goals and then held on to win. Confidence should be sky high going into the Panthers match and I think we're a good chance to be 2-0 before the bye.

Yes. Tambling was very good. Went hard at it, seemed to get plenty of it.

Would GWS even make the finals in SANFL footy?

Really disappointed. They played like millionaires and no-one wanted to get down and dirty when the chips were down in the first quarter.

Sturt were much improved over last season.

Reality Check! And here's hoping it's a lesson learned.

You make it sound like you were beaten by a dud team ? Reality check ?I don't think so , I thought Port played some very good footy Saturday and will be right amongst it.

Funny, could swear I wrote about an improved Sturt?

I guess people read what they want.
