Enjoyed the win but not getting to excited just yet. The key for us is to be able to string together 4 or 5 good performances as we have been very up and down over the last few seasons.

Port were great and didn't allow us to do anything that would have seen us get any momentum at all. As much as I hate saying it, we were totally outplayed. Lights were good and I am sure the Club would have been ok with the crowd considering the weather beforehand but I just think that so much infrastructure needs to be upgraded. I spoke with Slaven our pres and he told me that the Club had spent over $5K in bringing in toilets etc to make the Oval functional. Still there are hazards around including concrete loose etc.

Hope the Port supporter who had a stroke is ok.The timeclock was borrowed from Sturt aparently and was an amazing green colour that made life blurry if you looked at it for too long!

54 inside 50's to 26? Thats a massive difference. Wwt did well to score what they did considering their midfield let them down so badly

As Tony Bamford said post game, it is a long, hard season and the club is not getting ahead of themselves after a good solid first up win.

Port 10 goals up at 3qtr time & ready to bury them even deeper in the last then the sprinklers decided to switch or someone switched them on, mmmmm it definately slowed the magpies scoring rate down which maybe was the reason they come on to avoid a bigger embarrassment!! ;)
I said the Magpies were back but..... i;d say Bangers wouldn't be too happy with certain players laughing etc at 3 qtr time & would be telling the boys its only 1 game & theirs 19 remaining so keep a lid on it & don't get ahead of yourself.

Sounds like we were beaten from go to whoa.
Nothing to get too concerned about, many years the top teams cop a game like this that turns out to be a red herring, but obviously some things to address.

Wow this stat surprises me. From my view of the game it appeared a lot more one sided in Port's favour. I'm certainly not suggesting this is the reason Port won the game though.

It probably appeared that way due to the constant whining by the WWT supporters. I too thought it would have been a bigger difference. I reckon the reason that the free kicks, and the result, favoured Port was because they were first to the ball for the majority of the time.

Doesn't surprise me, the Eagles were terribly undiciplined last night, gave away a lot of frees off the ball

This thread reminds me of West / Central early last year ... good start, but a very long season ahead.

Can anyone enlighten me to what happened at the start of the game. Port kicked the first goal - then a whistle blows, umpire runs in and pays a free. Which fortunately only resulted in a behind.
