Wow, nice work Blues... only a scratch match of course but Jai Bednall's prediction of 9th seems even more harsh IMHO.

Yes and dominated the rucks.

Our ruckmen are weak midgets though.

Sorry for delay in final result, but had to get home before the rain set in again.

Final Scores:

Sturt: 13.14 (92)
Norwood: 7.11 (53)

Goal Scorers:

Sturt: Duldig 6, Cahill 3, 1 each Anderson, Evans, Martin, Crane
Norwood: Phillips 2, 1 each Jericho, Batsanis, Newton, Rodan, Evans

Norwood played what I would normally expected in the last quarter, however the damage had already been done

Hope that keeps the Blue Boys happy.

Cheers,

Looks like Sturt could have 2 quite handy key forwards this year, which could assist them considerably with their move up the ladder.

Doc, Norwood rucks shared between Levicki and Luccon, both very green but still contested well
occassional cameo from Brady Dawe.

Only one team was really interested last night.
Credit where it is due Sturt surprised me with their method and skills. On that showing they are a finals chance for sure but not sure of their depth after a few injuries.
Only a trial game but can not take too many positives from Norwood's point of view. Could not believe how many AFL listed players we had out there on the field. Our younger players going back to 2's seemed to slow us down a bit .... very hesitant and indecisive too.
Glad we did not lose any premiership points.

How many of the AFL listed players would be expected to line-up in Norwoods league side next week.

Also is there a rule in Round 1 about AFL listed players having to play in the League side like there is when one is dropped from the AFL side?

with this week being a rest week for the crows and port, they would have had to get permission to play any of their injured players with their respected sanfl club. next week it is business as usual for any crows or port listed players that dont make the cut, they will play with their sanfl club.

I'm surprised with how Sturt have performed in the trials... I thought they were questionable in defence against North Adelaide, very much a continuation of the problems from 2011...

... but since that match, gee wizz, 10 or 12 goals to 2 in the second half against West to win comfortably and then 12 goals to 3 in the first three terms against Norwood. I'm a tad impressed.

Maybe the team will be a lot better than I expect... personally I'd be pleased if we come a clear 6th or 7th.
