Good on him.

Indeed. And amongst the target of that tirade were a pair of idiots right up against the fence directly behind the northern goal. A disgraceful display from one bloke in particular who had been sniping over the fence who completely lost it when it was suggested that Sturt fans don't travel.

Turned around and called one of our group a c*nt, and then used the ever so original and witty "if i wanted an ar$ehole's opinion I would have farted".

They really are a discredit to the whole competition.

I know where you're coming from... but clubs tend to not like their players abusing the fans, bad press and all that.

Lucky the SANFL doesn't get any press then.

Yeah a few of our supporters bring shame to the club... no doubt about that.

And by that statement I mean a certain segment of the Sturt fan base who regularly over-step the line between banter and unacceptable and agressive abuse.

Yes, every club has some "supporters" like that, but Sturt seem to have a greater percentage than the other clubs, and there doesn't ever seem to be anything done by the club about it until it completely boils over, as it has a few times against the Eagles.

(eg. I didn't see a WESLO staffer at the northern end for the whole afternoon - yet at Alberton, Richmond and the Parade in particular they are very conspicuous).

Sacking Luke Norman would have about the same effect as Joan Rivers undergoing another facelift ...

Regardless of whether he is doing his best or not, you can't sack the team and therefore the coach is the one that has to make way in order for the club to turnaround.

So once again... SACK NORMAN!!!

I'd put Mickan in right now if he wanted the role... there's no excuse to not speak to the man at the very least. My money is on us signing him up, as I can't see Sturt going for another risky no-name coach.

This has R.Pyman stamped all over this with Sturt (finals in 2006 then poor form in 2007) .....watch this space I guess!!!
Is out of change.....thanks Cambridge Clarrie!!!

I'd disagree that Sturt has any more or less, it a stupid statement which can't be backed up.
Congratulations to Port. That was just about the worst I've seen Sturt play, ever. Disgraceful attempt atca game of football.

CS, if you want him gone then come up with the cash to pay him out, unless Normo walks away from the job I can't see that the club has any options apart investing their time and efforts in making him a better coach. Unfortunately the club is not in a financial position to pay him out and afford another coach. From my understanding he is the least paid of all the SANFL coaches. It's all very well for you to harp on about him and "get Mickan in" but who's gonna pay for it, who's gonna pay the extra tens of thousands of dollars for a new coach for the next few years.
Nothing personal but you seem to be high on opinion and scant in legitimate answers

The $$$ question is a tough one to answer. However, as I've said to a few of my Sturt mates, if the club does not see there being a future with Luke Norman, what is the point of continuing with him. There is none. No one could possibly sit back and say that it's best to just see out the next year, regardless of how bad we become, just to save some cash. While Sturt has always been a financially struggling club, we can't sell out our on-field dignity so cheap.

For me, Luke Norman doesn't appear to be the answer we all hoped he would be. He said last year that there was attitude problems within the squad and that was to blame for our very erratic form. At the same time that tells me that he was not able to motivate the team or correct that attitude problem, so it was solved by sacking players and/or players leaving. Now into the following year, we seem to have a similar situation on field, up and down performances.

Again I'm hearing that some players are unhappy with him and don't want to play for him... maybe it's not true, but maybe it is, I just don't see or hear anything coming from the club to give me much confidence in where we are going.

In fact, I just feel we've shrugged our shoulders and said "oops, we'll just have to ride this one out".

For me, that just doesn't seem to be good enough.

We need to be braver than that... surely.

Norman is contracted to the end of 2012 ... signed a 2 year extension at the start of 2010.

Went through the Museum Day at half time, was a very good way to spend the break, although the highlight was seeing a baggy green cap ;)

Would have been good to have a couple of flat screens with the footy on and if they could somehow organise a TAB for matchdays, it would be a real winner IMO.
