I got a txt at work from my lad with the news Trent had retired .Came as a shock shouldn't have but it did .
While he is lost on field off field he will no doubt have a new role!

I was watching a replay of Crows vs Collingwood in 2006 the other night and it was sad to think it was that long ago that Hentschel did his knee. 5 seasons of pain and frustration I imagine. He did bloody well to get back like he did and still showed glimpses, none more so than the final last year against Glenelg.

Unfortunately that injury ruined his footy career and arguably cost the Crows a premiership as well - such was his importance.

I'll remember him as supremely skilled, he almost floated around the forward line and could read the ball as well as anyone. He'll also be remembered for his determination to get back and the efforts he put in are a benchmark for anyone.

Well done to Hentschel. I would imagine he would be very valued in his role off the field and hopefully he can have an influence on the field from the coaches box this season and beyond.

we have all said that injuries have curtailed his career (which it has) yet the man himself said on the news that he's been lucky & fortuneate to have played league footy......what a humble & appreciative young man :-bd :ymapplause: :ymapplause: :ymapplause:

He spoke at the President's lunch today and told us what he'd been through

Poor bloke but was happy to just be given the opportunity

...and he has said both of those things since he first got injured....incredible attitude for someone who has been through so much.

Will always remember one game (06 or 07) when he absolutely owned the Bombers off his own boot- 8 goals IIRC...

That was the moment that I expected huge things from him.

Very unfortunate the way these things happen, at least he's got a job (footy manager) at the club to keep himself involved in the game- no substitute, but at least it's something.

I suppose a little respect for the thread for a bloke who has given his all to play Football at the highest level his body could allow him is too much to ask from you Bunton...

If you want to have a go at Tiller and everything that the Eagles have done since Ron has gone down to South you could have at least started your own thread. Doing it in what should be a bit of a tribute thread is poor form... but right down your alley.

What he said...
