At least they play a decent style of football now.

If I tried to count the simple marks dropped by North today I would have run out of fingers and toes before 3/4 time

I'm amazed we've beaten North both times... a minor miracle we got away with a win at Unley when the other team was so obviously better where it counted in the forward line and now this win at Prospect... it will be interesting to see who ends up last this season, it may be neither of these sides in the end.

Westies certainly look dodgy now...

We spoke about exactly the same thing as it happened and all agreed that was pretty much game set and match, had that goal been kicked North would have had their tails up and Sturt would have been under a lot of pressure

So who ran with Jimmy today? Obviously did a damn good job given he's been averaging 30+ possessions a game IIRC.

Great nuggety win by Sturt today. Good to see them go in hard and tackle hard and cut out the handball. I could only get there shortly after 1/4 time and it seemed that from then on Sturt controlled large parts of the game. Saying that both teams had trouble securing a shot on goal up forward.
Sturt is a struggling club but I took heart in some of our young kids coming through and their development. I thought our kids who were on their first or first dozen games today showed alot of grit and determination, and at times courage.
I'm not sure where North are at as a team but as a club, the new grandstand development is looking great. And god love the RSL.
Happy Sunday!

Jimmy was on the bench and at full forward for a lot of the game, carrying an injury of some sort.

Turning point of this week's match - 15 minute mark of the last quarter against Glenelg, Jimmy Allan hurt his leg. Kicked badly twice, Glenelg kicked late goals. Jimmy only half his usual stats today, carrying a leg from the start and off from half way through the third quarter. He had still kicked 2 brilliant goals trying to lift the team. North are a one-man band. I said at the start of the year if Allan and Alleway don't stay sound North will win the wooden spoon. I was wrong, if Allan doesn't stay sound North will win the wooden spoon.

Both sides having scored 1 goal each for the 2nd qtr
ST had kicked 1-4 to NA 1-1 in the term
NA got a the ball deep into attack
NA had 2 forwards to a lone defender
Last weeks hero Johnny Boras dropped a simple mark and what looked an almost certain goal

The score should have been
NA 6-1
ST 3-6

It became this at half time
NA 5-2
ST 7-7

LAST QTR
NA 10-6

It was Gallman MAL, and you could add the miss-pass from Ackland that gifted Sturt another goal in the 1st minute of the last qtr, but hey, the game is about 18 players on the oval for 4 qtrs and I guess it isn't really fair to just pick out one or two events.

I thought we were out coached. North had the big guns running in the forward line and only Allers up back, especially across the HB line. Gallman is is a strong running backman and has shown he can run out of defence and kick a goal. Tony, Kriston and George are all good, but we did not seem to have the strength at CHB, a key position. They should be supporting the key position player at CHB. Allers had to cover Duldig and in doing so was not always where the delivery came in. Sturt played it smart with Duldig drawing Allers away from a contest. Smart play/execution and well coached.

I don't have any trouble with Francou. He is good for the club and has developed a competitive plan and is learning just as much as the players. I just wonder what his advisers were doing.

The team list is fine, skills were a problem today, but placement of players was lacking. The move to take Allers to the back line the other week was a brilliant chess move that paid off. We needed to adjust today too.

Too keep bagging Healy is just a joke. Keep hearing this "Oh were losing but playing a better style of footy" what a disgraceful comment. How many finals games can be played by losing all year but saying we play a good style! I have nothing against Josh and hope he goes well, but the carry on about all the Healy damage is just a crock.Think the problem at Prospect might be deeper!

Not even close.

Healy will rate up there with Flynn, Hart and McDermott for the worse coaches of North ever, Francou won't be close.
Don't get me wrong, I was never a Josh Francou fan and copped a bit from fellow North supporters for my attitude of Josh when he was at the Power but I've seen more millions more encouraging signs in the last 3 months than the 2 years when Healy sent us backwards.

Don't get me wrong, Healy was a respectable nice bloke.
Just a terrible coach.
For his sake I hope there's always a "Power" in SA so he can get a job.

Francou made (or didn't make) some moves that didn't impress me today but believe me (in someone that goes most if not every week) we're miles in front of where we were in the last 2 years.

If Healy had kept coaching (and I know this sounds pathetic) I think I would have stopped going to the SANFL, it was revoltingly awful. He should be sued for bringing the game into disrepute.

Healy and Francou are no comparison.
Might as well as compare me as a player to Barrie Robran.

It was a Centrals supporter that asked the question, the replies could also bee seen as stick up for Francou rather than bagging Healy
