Is there any real change since last year re gameday execution .... no , our field kicking is still crap alot of the time ! Day , Staple , Goldsworthy and Geddes have all stepped up in their own way which is great for us , but the recruits have killed us so for this year with so little real input on the field ..... but Ill wait until the seasons end to fire off on that issue ! The people saying we think we are better then we actually are , well their right , but the deeper lying questions are the ones of real interest at this footy club now . If we dont see a definate improvement for the remaining season , then Godden & Davies will need much more then a shifter and screw driver this time around to retool this squad . The signs are not good ie. cant score when the opposition runs at and off our midfield and shows them no respect , our best footy may only happen when our opponents drop off for a time , being a forward in this side is a nightmare and our forwards get very few easy ones unless there on the boundary line ! We are Crow predictable in our gamestyle which can be a good thing if your on , but not even Collingwood are on every week . Unless you have a midfield with real pace and hardness , then you cant really hope to be top dog , and we only have hardness unfortunately !

Holden you are spot on with your analysis about us not having any pace. Year after year most eagles supporters have noticed it but for some reason those in charge of making the recruiting decisions either can't or won't target the midfielders we need with pace. At this stage I have faith in Godden but whether it is his direction to play wide rather than direct, or just the players not listening....well is is it any wonder we can't score more than 100 points in a match????

I think it's too easy to get caught up in the leg speed issue. Most of a ball's movement is through the air, not when it's being carried. So it's generall the work rate and understanding of teammates to run hard to the right space at the right time. If you watch the dogs when they're doing it well, you'll see guys working to create space then someone working to get into the space. Couple that with trust to play on at any chance and quick gives and the ball can move faster than Usain Bolt.

Can anyone provide me with information regarding how Nathan Rayner is going the reserves?

I think he has been going ok. Has been in the best a couple of times since he has been dropped. But I am not convinced he is up to league standard just yet. He simply doesn't get enough of the ball for a midfielder and I think his field kicking is a bit suspect

Chris Knights and Luke Thompson have been dropped by the Crows, assuming they will play for the Eagles?

VERY inexperienced backilnes & interchange. If Evil is out too, coupled with Our cruddy record at Woodville, I am inclined to tip The Wiggles by 21 points.

Eagles by 36. Without checking, I imagine both teams are quite different from the last time they played.

Interesting Central side this week. Would think Menzel will play, not often the Dogs name a bloke in the squad to debut and he doesnt get a game. I havent seen alot of him this year, what type player is he.

Forward line looks very very strong with Obst, Havelberg and Gunston all there but to be honest i wouldnt be surprised if Gunston played mainly in the backline. The backline looks a tad small but did i hear right in that Salter is playing for the Power this weekend.

Knights and Thompson back for the Eagles will be interesting to see, their best is very good at SANFL level but Glenelg have proven this year out of form AFL players from interstate coming back into your side isnt always a positive.

Personally i think this will be a very tight one with either team to win by less than 15 points.

The stats say:

All Recent Encounters:
Central have won 3 of the last 4

Recent @ Woodville:
Eagles have won the last 4 (Central last win 2005)

My tip - Dogs by 2 goals

Both returning from injury, with Adam Varcoe's comeback this weekend his 1st since his 2nd knee reconstruction when he was over in Geelong. From memory, this will be Adam's first game for the Dogs since he last played reserves, doing his knee the 2st time, the year before he was drafted to the Cats.

Brayden O'Hara is playing his 1st game since breaking the collarbone back on ANZAC Day so lack of match fitness would mean he might need 1 or 2 weeks in the 2's.

According to the Crows Twitter feed, Knights has a 'sore calf' and won't play for the Eagles
