As a father with two small kids I dont get to many Maggies games these days as I got to and watch all the Power games and 2 games in one weekend is a bit much when the kids dont go.

I love being able to get there early and watch the Maggies too and it certainly helps keep up my attachment (and membership/match day ticket) with the maggies. Especially when the Maggies youngsters put in like that. A really good effort today and they certainly seem to be building something.

Didn't think he had the greatest of influences on the game for mine, the most interesting part of his game was that out of his 22 disposals, 17 were handballs and 5 kicks?

I think the issue for the Double Blues yesterday was, at times, poor disposal AND overuse of handball putting team-mates under pressure, more often than not.

2 games a bit much, nah, surely not :)

I saw 5 games live this weekend, watched 3 on television and listened to 2 live on radio for a grand tally of 10 :D

I don't have kids, yet, whilst also have a very understanding wife which helps ;)

I reckon the double header is good for a couple of occasions per year and thought the crowd built up nicely. Heard a rumour the AwFL is considering reintroducing Reserves fixtures in Victoria next year, in which case they'll have to do something about the hour gap between games which will help.

Absolutely AWESOME barrel from Hoskin that made the crowd erupt. Had one eye on the interview between Dwayne Russell and Craig Bradly and they all swung around towards the play. Not sure if it made it onto the telly?

Saw both games at AAMI
My conclusion on the 1870 and 1997 PA teams

Bamfords babies never give up, for the past 2 seasons they mostly fight each and every game out , irrespective of the scorelines
ST were all over the 1870's but PA stayed in the game and eventually won easily

The 1997's led CA for a half of football , and then capitulated again, as they mostly do later in the games in recent seasons

The 1870's despite being undermanned the last 2 years , are typifying that SANFL magpie spirit of the 20th century

Pretty certain his surname is Duldig, not Duldog so how you blokes down at the Bay came up with Dogger is beyond me?

Anyway, he is at Sturt now and we'll call the potential Ken Farmer medal winner what we bloody well like.

Rick Davies' surname wasn't Jumbo Prince though was it.....

Ask Dogger next time you speak to him to clarify.

Here is his version for you anyway;

MD: Mate I actually don’t even know what it is – Dulds or Dogger seem to be the most common. However when someone mispronounces my name the boys like to roll with that, things like Dugdale, Dulditch. Although it really is pretty easy to say. Crazy John gets a bit of a run – but have never know why?

Not just playing up forward, he's also spending a bit of time through the midfield.

Did a couple of nice things yesterday, had 10 touches, 6 tackles and 4 clearnaces.

I've only ever heard 'Digger' when in the company of Snouts. Perhaps I've unearthed some potentially destructive factions that could tear at the fabric of the club? I've also heard BFC which is probably not very nice.

Enjoyed watching he and Lokan going head to toe - it was like Bizarro world

I don't think anyone has mentioned how disgusting the umpiring was, all three umps should be totally embarassed by their performance and if any of the three are doing league next week that just shows how pathetic the umpiring panel in the SANFL has become. Their poor performance was highlighted by the field umpire over ruling the boundary ump on who knocked the ball out on the full from a bounce, it was clear to everybody in the stadium that Johncock had punched the ball 5 metres in Sturts direction but out on the full thus a free kick to Port, as the port player went to kick the field umpire held up play and awarded the kick to Sturt much to the confusion of all players who had ran down the southern end of the field waiting for the Port player to kick the ball in. The main frustration all supporters must have had with the umpires is we had 3 different interpretations Haussen didn't want to make any decisions thus everything was a ball up no matter how many frees he missed, Rowston paided one of the quickest holding the balls ever seen on a Sturt player and was by far the most embarassing of all three umps in the first half and Oates gifted Ports one of the softest frees in front of goal ever seen early in the last 1/4. it was not a good day for the umpires

Agreed DFA. Probably nobody mentioned it because with Rowston it's just assumed
