the two south dancing girls selling the raffle tickets were not only attractive but very friendly, chatty, witty & were down to earth, while doubtful it was their intention it is a very good P.R. exercise for both them & the club which the club & their families should be very proud of them
i thought secret groups were a thing of the past, well not on websites anyway

Pretty sure it was a thigh strain, probably a 2-3 week injury at this stage.

His name is Emannuel Irra and he is the first Ugandan born player to play SANFL league football.

He is a real excitement machine and has great skills considering he's only been playing footy for 3 or 4 years.

A pretty interesting game.
South kicked with the aid of the breeze in the first quarter and despite having a lot of it failed to capitalise. i thought our endeavour was really good. The second saw centrals take the initiative and they led by a couple of goals at half time. the 3rd quarter was a real arm wrestle and South only managed a couple of points despite kicking with the breeze. Centrals came home with the wind and despite South kicking 3 into it, Centrals dominated the last 15 minutes of the game to win by 30 pts.

Just a few comments
Centrals absolutely killed us when we made skill errors and turnovers, time and time again they went coast to coast on the rebound to score easily.
The umpiring particularly in the first half was laughable, the worst I've seen in years, they were like the 3 stooges..
The lights were fine. The surface was magnificent.
Andy Otten will be with South for a few weeks yet.
It wasnt that windy early in the game but the wind picked up as the game went on.
Emmanuel Irra will definitely be drafted at the end of the year, the boy can play, amazing skills for a lad who first touched a footy 2 yrs ago. Apparently he has 2-3 younger brothers. 8)
Paul Thomas is a gun.
Sutherland can play.
Centrals will be very hard to beat for the flag.

Spoke to a couple of Central ressies players after the game and they couldnt talk highly enough of the surface they thought it was magnificent and the best surface they have played on ever which does include Adelaide Oval.

Imho South are definatly on the right track!

South had a red hot go, but the class of the dogs shone through in the end. A string of 3 or 4 quick goals late in the 2nd term, and our inability to even post one major in the 3rd were telling factors. The dogs did a great job of absorbing South's fwd entries early in the 3rd. The margin blew out a bit late, which was a little disappointing.

South had more inside 50s apparently, according to the RPH boys. Unfortunately Wundke couldn't get into it, and when he did get his hands on the footy his kicking let him down (not for the first time this season). Ainger did a few nice things. Encouraging to see that Rolfe kicked half a dozen in the twos, as he should be the perfect foil for the two bigger men.

I probably had Thewlis as our best. Made a couple of blues, but is improving week to week and it's great seeing him injury free at the moment. As B+W mentioned Otten looked a long way off an AFL call up. As the RPH boys harped on constantly, both he and Cook had a fetish for running in circles and handballing to a flat-footed teammate inside of kicking the damn thing. To Cook's credit he did start to break some lines as the match wore on but his decision making remained questionable.

Thomas again hurt us.

Port @ Alberton next week. Critical that a) we turn up to play away from home b) and in the daylight. We've been poor at doing that this season, round 1 excluded.

47-44 in South's favour but at one stage in the first quarter it was 18-2!!!

Every team has a tale of the season and this is ours.

South is ranked....
#2 for average inside 50s per match (45.7), compared to our opposition's average of 42.6

Which looks good on paper until you consider we're ranked....
#7 for average points per match (73.6), 29.8 behind the leader

Because we're ranked....
#9 for rebound rate (60.7%, well below the league average of 69.9% - that's the percentage of opposition inside 50s that have been rebounded)

That's only 181 rebounds out of 298 opposition inside 50s
South has had 237 of its 320 inside 50s rebounded by the opposition (74.1%) which is the worst rate in the league

I dare say Kevin Sheedy out at GWS will be keeping a very close eye on Emmanuel Irra...

Irra placeable! He is a gun and will play afl.
