Great to see Freddie Bills there too.

Quite why he attracts criticism from some SANFL followers is completely beyond me. Outstanding all around the ground today. I always thought Russell Ebert's record of four Magarey Medals was one that may not be matched, but Allan is the player that may do it. Would have to get votes today and deservedly so.

I know it's probably been said before but Allan should have three MMs already. How he didn't get three votes in Rd 22 of '09 against West ranks with the disappearance of the Mary Celeste as one of life's great mysteries. Even one vote would've given him a shared medal.

Saw both Craig Parry and Stephen Tiller post game outside the Eagles changerooms...

Parry had that troublesome shoulder in a sling while Tiller was on crutches with his ankle heavily strapped...

It is not just posters here who criticise Jimmy. Warren Partland of the Advertiser has been his harshest critic and there is no logic to his criticism. He and the other Advertiser journalists ranked him only the 7th best player in the SANFL last year. It was laughable.

Nephew. Had a couple of league games last year. Recruited from Broken Hill.

The onlysuprising thing about this is that Hentschell was not with them on crutches! Them the breaks when you recruit and pay huge bucks for injury prone players.

I thought the overall game was good in terms of a contest. Eagles too polished when it mattered and it's midfield was too good and experienced for North.

I also didn't think Francou got his defensive match ups right. For most of the game Miles was at FB on Hentschel where I thought he should have been on Grocke and McIntyre on Hentschel. Mind you Eagle supporters would have to question if Hentschel is worth his place - too slow and looks like he can barely jump over a jam jar? Pity for him as clearly that horrific leg injury he suffered would have ended many a career but I think even the SANFL has passed him by?

Take Allan and Wright out of our midfield and we are in big trouble. Delvins is going ok but his disposal let's him down. Disappointing effort from Backwell - he needs to rack up more than he does. Thiele - how does he continue to get selected at League level?

North had enough of the play and good defensive pressure and efforts were not rewarded with a glut of poor decision making and skill errors. You could put some down to Eagles pressure but a lot were just plain clangers and not acceptable. North are competitive and not too far off it but need to maximise chances and use the ball better if it wants to climb the ladder this year.
Piss weak SANFL and the CLOWNS who run it.

Thought the game was entertaining with quite a bit of end to end footy. Eagles undermanned backline was terrific today and McKenzie played a great captain's game. Badly need an inform Hentschell or salter up forward as a target. 'Autumn Leaves' Tiller a worry as is Parry's injury but then again he has played more good games for the Eagles and has had 10 times more success in 1 season than he did in many seasons at south.

i thought although north tried hard & was able to get a goal to keep in touch throughout the day the eagles were always in control of the contest, i was impressed with rayner's crumbing & goalkicking ability & i thought it was a good game of footy, if alleway & allan are ever out of the north side on the same day they will struggle against every team in the competition, they were clearly norths best two players
i thought secret groups were a thing of the past, well not on websites anyway

Allan is a great player but dont ever compare him to ebert. Quite cringeworthy to think the great mans record will be matched by someone with half his skill

If you had seen him against Centrals in a trial game earlier this year you wouldnt say that. He led well, marked strongly & kicked beautifully that day, albeit before missing the second half presumably injured. If he can stay fit he will be more than handy.

His tackle rate is very low, just over 2 a game. ;)

That's because he's the only one that's got the ball when he's in the area, can't tackle himself! ;)

WHUFC, I'd say the 2 tackles a game is about the average for a player.
