who did he hit last Saturday night?

No one. That is the great mystery of the report. He got hit in the face by number 22, he shaped as if to throw a punch, but only in an intimidating manner and the umpire, who had not got a decision right all night kept up with his perfect record.

Most people didn't think that he got reported. The umpire made out to get his book out, but didn't. It came as a surprise to see the report come to fruition.

Yeah, exactly as we saw it, we were ropable that the umpire paid a free for Clinton "threatening" to hit him, if we'd know he was going to get reported too I think we would have jumped the fence. Bloody unbelievable.
Just when you think the umpires can't sink to lower levels of incompetence they still manage to surprise us.

When was it advised he (Alleway) had been reported from the game?

I think the 'Match Review Panel' or Tribunal can now place players on report after they review the tapes of each games on a Monday morning.

Maybe something else was noticed thus resulting in him being reported?

Regardless, his tibunal hearing is tonight, along with Tom Jonas from Norwood.

There is no video of the incident so it must have been the umpires report. It is the softest report I have seen in a long, long time. Thus he is likely to get 3 games.

It (the report) could be from another incident that might have only been cited on the video review perhaps? Surely a player can't be reported for 'faking throwing a punch at someone and pulling out* almost straight away' ?

Be thankful .. Jonas arrived at the tribunal with a perfect record and whilst the footage didn't look great, the contact made was deemed inconclusive and left to the umpire who stuck it to the lad.

Great system this one is gonna be, soft report and penalty from what we've been used to, and now has points hanging above him which will no doubt root him over again in the future.

Sorry for OT rant .. Good luck to both clubs, if it's wet I think it helps the Maggies, but then I also reckon the Roosters are due because a 0-3 start becomes a fair hill to climb .. Either side by less than 3 goals.

How good are norths rucks? Sounding like Maric will be getting the chop for this weekend, if so I would hope we could control the stoppages with him and Meiklejohn rotating

Ackland has been getting plenty of taps, but we are not getting the ball out of the centre. He is doing a bit around the ground. I would have thought that we may get Daniel Stewart back to support him.

Only a reprimand though NM so he has been told he is free to play for the Crows (if selected) meaning if he isn't picked at AFL level, he will be able to come back to the Maggies.

There used to be a time when players were reported for "Attempting To Strike" (which, presumably meant they either weren't very good at it, or made a token effort).

Peter Carey of course got two games for attemtping to strke in the Qualifying final of 1984. I always thought that he got games for the indiscretions of a teammate which everyone saw on TV, but for which he wasn't reported.

Jason Roe missed North's 1987 premiership by being suspended for one game for attempting to strike Mark Ducker in the 1987 Second Semi Final. His punches probably did land, but the report was definitely only for attempting to strike.

Alleway clearly didn't attempt to strike. At most he raised his fist in a mocking gesture, having just collected one to the face himself. A classic of the retaliator getting caught even when he didn't retaliate.

I prefer to think of it as a classic case of the tribunal catching up on the the additional game he should have at least got last year when he smashed Murph in the jaw from behind at the Bay and only got one game....

Allaway got one game, Murph got four with a broken jaw.
Let that be a lesson to you Port, no one beats the Bays five times in a row in a GF and gets away with it!!!

alleway was found not guilty this week so he didn't get any games. Furthermore if you check back on the SANFL website, the Alleway report was round 12, Murphy played in round 14 against central, he only missed one game.
